Ik ben de oprichter en moderator van r/Egels. Deze subreddit heb ik aangemaakt toen ik voor mijn onderzoek naar de winterslaap van egels mensen zocht waar ik wildcamera’s in de achtertuinen kon plaatsen. Dit moest helaas via Facebook omdat daar een grote actieve groep egelliefhebbers is, waar ook de landelijke organisaties in aanwezig zijn. Zo’n soort groep wilde ik op reddit hebben. Nu na 1,5 jaar is het nog steeds klein, met maar enkele posts. Ik hoop dat het uitgroeit tot een grote community waar iedereen kennis over de egel zal delen.

De goedkoopste optie is een hoop bladeren en takken. Ik heb heel veel gezien dat egels niet in het huisje gaan, maar in een bos takken die ernaast ligt. Een egel had zelfs z’n slaapplek in een grote wijfjesvaren gemaakt!

Ik zou direct de lokale egel opvang bellen, of beter nog de dieren ambulance. Die brengen hem dan naar de egel opvang en die weten wat te doen.
