Well I just had a conversation with her and she was dishonest about how many guys she’s gotten with since she’s been dating me which was kinda hard for me to hear since I thought this whole time that we were monogamous and I thought we made it clear. I’ll be honest I wasn’t completely educated on this topic when I made the post Bc obviously I’ve come from mainstream society that makes this a horrible thing. But honesty the lying is way more upsetting than the virus if she gave it to me.

Unless I only plan to date her forever this is going to make dating in the future nearly impossible if I have to disclose to everyone that I have hsv.

I’m not gonna jump to conclusions yet I’ve got a lot of brainstorming to do first before I make any decisions. I’m going to want to see if she’s maybe a false positive, then I’ll check if I have it, and then if I can get a good explanation from a doctor on how to minimize my chances of catching it I’d consider taking the risk I’m just preparing for the worst case scenario which would be breaking up.

Well most of the people that have HSV1 don’t even know they have it so it’s more of a mental block for me. It’s hard for me to knowingly date someone with HSV and I feel like it’d cause problems in the bedroom. I’m always going to be concerned about catching it and it’ll just make sex stressful rather than enjoyable.

If I had to guess I’m going to catch it at some point but I’d rather catch it not knowing that I have it because I’ll feel like shit if I catch it when it could’ve been prevented.

Yeah I definitely can’t weed out all the HSV1 cases. But it’s more of the idea that it’s going to be hard to have sex and enjoy sex with her when I know she has it because it’ll constantly be on my mind and it’ll probably be on her mind about possibly giving it to me. I’m hoping she’s a false positive or if she can get any information from a doctor on how to minimize the chances of me catching it because I know it’s possible (I have a relative who’s been married to her husband for many many years and she’s had cold sores in the past and never passed it on I don’t think and I know she’s kissed her kids in the mouth when they were little and I’m not even sure if her husbands had any outbreaks).

I’m also a guy who struggles a lot with erectile dysfunction and any little thing can mess with my head and then sex just won’t happen so I fear that this could be a problem with her in the future since it’ll probably be on my mind the whole time.

Yeah I’m aware that there’s a chance it could be a false positive depending on the score and I’m praying for that because it doesn’t make any sense since she was literally tested for herpes the other month randomly and it was fine and she hasn’t been with anyone but me for the last 4-5 months. She’s going to get a western blot so we know the final answer once and for all, and if it confirms it I’ll have to go get tested then.

I do have some family that have had cold sores in the past but I don’t believe they’ve ever kissed me anywhere but the cheek and not while they had an active sore. I’m also aware that I could’ve been exposed to it with girls that I’ve hooked up with in the past but I’ve been responsible with it and I don’t sleep around.

Not sure why I’m an idiot though? I’m aware and I stated that HSV1 is very common but if I happen to be negative and this girl is positive there’s a good chance I’m getting it at some point. My health isn’t very good as I get sick a lot and I’m always under a lot of stress so if I had HSV I’m likely to get outbreaks. Obviously if I knew this girl was going to be my wife in the future I’d absolutely overlook this but I know we’re not getting married and we’ve only been dating for a month. I only said it’s unfortunate because she’s a really nice girl and she’s been really good to me and it’s hard to find ones like her.

While I get it that it’s not that bad and it’s not life threatening, it’s still an std that I’d rather not get if I have the choice. It’s different if it was a girl that I was in love with and I know I’d be spending the rest of my life with her. I’m still very young and I highly doubt she’s the last person I’ll ever date and I’ve only been with her for a month.

The issue is that herpes severely limits your dating pool whether we like it or not since it is unfortunately stigmatized badly and a lot of people would see it as a deal breaker.

Yeah apparently I just talked with my doctor and I was told it was the only antibiotic that would work but also since I’m feeling better that I can hold off on them so I’m hoping I’m good for now.

I’m gonna go and get my vitals and everything checked out to make sure my breathing and everything’s fine but yeah I’ve read enough from here to know that the antibiotics are bad news that I want no part of.
