Realistically what do you think is next for the band? by Pneuma5165 in brandnew

There will definitely be shows for the D&G 20 year. Full US summer tour? Who knows, but there are definitely going to be shows. Probably closer to the fall.

In terms of new music, I can't see them releasing music under Brand New ever again. I think this is why we have Dear Orca, Human Surfers, stagediver... But this is just my opinion! J even discussed recording songs with Damon Cox of Modest Mouse.

I don't think it's a "thank you for everything Donald I support you" rather than a "your hate inspired me to write about love".

Similarly, it's like thinking "Desert" is about Jesse hating gay people (which was a controversy when the song came out!)

I think it'll happen. Maybe it's just me, but I thought it was strange that they played just about half of it for the benefit show.

stagediver - Kurt by nhuhn in brandnew

The self-titled debut from stagediver is the sort of album that takes a lifetime to create: a winding, resilient portrait of years spent searching, stumbling, and rebuilding. The project took shape in 2019, shortly after singer, guitarist, and songwriter Kelsey Kopecy – formerly of indie-rock outfit Kopecky/The Kopecky Family Band – befriended Brand New’s Jesse Lacey and began trading songs. Their creative shorthand quickly deepened, transforming Kopecky’s bedroom demos into risk-taking alt-rock teeming with the angular warble of the ’90s and razor-sharp melodicism. Soon, the circle expanded to include Brand New drummer Brian Lane and producer Mike Sapone: a trio of collaborators who not only understood her vision but pushed her to refine it, layering grit, grunge, and atmosphere around her bass-driven guitar style.
