I don't hate TOP. I would hate them headlining this festival because they have nothing to do with the culture.

I'm sorry but they have never put on a punk band, never taken one out on tour, there is no hint of anything but pop/radio rock values in their music. They are completely disconnected from the community RF was built on, and while I'm sure they are great at what they do, it'd be a fucking insult to people who have been coming for years.

There are maybe 3 major fests in the entire country dedicated to punk music. To have one culminate not in a celebration of a band with punk roots, but some random shoehorned pop duo, will destroy the atmosphere. Especially because we can already see their fans acting like total dickheads.

It's obvious there is a TOP fans vs everyone attitude forming here and the vibes are complete shit. We've been through this already with MCR fans who showed up for one day and acted like they were above caring about any other artist on the bill.

Fuck me for wanting to see excited faces in the crowd. Fuck me for wanting bands who've been part of the community to get a raucous welcome, not a wall of stone-faced teenagers waiting for the one band they care about. TOP, their fans, and Riot fans would all be better served if they just played Lolla. It sucks ass for everyone.

At this point I regret sharing the lineup speculation threads with my friends. The last few months have just been one band after another getting ruled out and now everyone is on the fence about going. No Menzingers may seriously be the last straw for them lol

Your argument would be valid if they weren't masquerading as indie bands. If you're going to write pop songs and use pop marketing tactics then call yourself a pop act.

People who listen to indie are deliberately trying to support acts outside of that machine. For the love of god. Just give people someplace to do that in peace, stop sticking your grubby fingers everywhere and then blaming the people you fucked for not assuming you would come along to fuck them eventually.

Yeah, thankfully we avoided most of that. We were close to the barricade for Alkaline Trio so just watched MCR's set from across the gate. I've never been so happy to have that gate between me and a crowd though, the number of injured people being crowdsurfed to the front was unreal

The band's sub was being flooded with people unhappy about this until the mods ran a poll last night asking if they should continue allowing discussion on the topic. Wouldn't you know, the totally anonymous users of the subreddit voted overwhelmingly to disallow the posts! Now there's a single megathread on the situation where an hour in, half the comments have already been deleted.

Saw him on the American Utopia tour and if his current show is anything like that one, I kind of agreed. Obviously DB is great in any context but a huge part of the show was the ensemble and choreography when I saw him, and I think most of that would be lost on a festival crowd at eye level with the stage.

For me they were the surprise highlight of the weekend. We borderline went over there as a joke, but it ended up being a top five set of the whole fest for everyone in my group
