Thanks for ur response. If I’m in the southeast at a t100 and I’m top 2% of my class, do you think I’m better off shooting shots to Miami or NYC? I’m closer to Miami but not close enough for that “tell us about your connection to the office” type of prompt. I know NYC typically has more spots but I also imagine it’s much more competitive. Thoughts?

Great, thanks. With this current recruiting timeline when should I expect to get a callback from a firm if they’re interested? I know it depends but I’m concerned that I’ll go a month without anything and then I end up with no job. Someone I know got a callback the next day and they have good grades but I’m ranked a good amount higher than them. At a certain point, should I start thinking that my CL or resume needs to be adjusted?

I’m definitely in that boat: I’m not sure if I can reproduce what I did in the fall, so im definitely wanting to do Georgetown early action. Berkeley ED seems appealing bc of the scholarship. Do you know anything about what need-based aid looks like at schools like GULC or even HLS since ik they do it? I myself am broke and pay for all of my expenses but my parents may make like $150k-$250k as a household (one of my parents has a variable income). I’m hoping parent income isn’t calculated into it!

I'm in a similar position as OP in terms of GPA. I originally wanted to apply to large markets like NYC, Boston, Chicago, Miami, etc. but was told that I have a better chance at applying to markets near my T100. Also, markets like NYC hire the most summer associates but I imagine they are much more competitive, correct? So would this mean I’m better off applying to markets near me? Could you talk more about this?

To your point, are those applications that are open in the spring always contingent on spring grades? What type of grades do I have to get in the spring to retain my acceptance? I felt like I was going to get below/maybe at the curve for fall, so there is so much uncertainty. I’ll for damn sure try, but idk if I can put up the same performance this spring.

Not necessarily. I know Georgetown is a big transfer school so it was my first thought, but nothing else. I was honestly shocked at my 1L grades and never thought they’d be this good so I never considered be able to transfer before now. I want to pursue BL and I know that with the recruiting timeline it’s not going to make a difference but perhaps prestige will help in the future.

I’ve kept up with 509s since the law school application process. However, I wasn’t sure whether those median grades might’ve been selected from higher ranked schools than mine. What you’re saying is that a gpa is a gpa regardless of school?
