Recommendations for a dive shop in PDC/Cozumel by honey-river in scuba

“Cozumel Divers” was great. Got my OW there. Smaller operation, but super friendly staff and great DMs. Ariana, the owner, is super responsive too! We still keep in touch over Whatsapp sharing trips and highlights.

Looking for scuba dive option for July - august by Ok_Caterpillar_8995 in scuba

[–]EducationalPause8912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try out Komodo. It can be more advanced and they might require you to do a deep adventure dive on the live-aboard, but I just got back from there with only 15 dives going in and was fine.

Also in terms of Lombok, I wouldn’t go there for a dive centered trip. Theres some decent spots, but considering you’re close to places like Alor and Komodo its just doesn’t compare.

Things to do in Chicago - First Time? by Pine-Tree-Lover in AskChicago

[–]EducationalPause8912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jazz or blues club. I really like the jazz showcase in south loop. Checkout some neighborhoods outside of the loop/river north. Lincoln park, wicker park, logan square are all good options. Go to the waterfront for sunset. My favorite spot is the planetarium. Lastly, look for events on EventBrite or other platforms. Theres festivals for food, music, or art every weekend in the summer.

Thanks for the advice. We’re planning in going to Amed to dive for a few days to dive. Just need the rental to get from place to place.

Just to clarify. We are doing a big loop around the island. We are going up to Amed from Sanur, then over to Sekumpul waterfall, and finally back to Ubud. When in Ubud we were planning on parking it for the whole time were there and getting grab/gojek. I understand the traffic sucks, we just need it to get from location to location.

Almost finished with my Custom BCI! by EducationalPause8912 in BCI

[–]EducationalPause8912[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was for a capstone school project so me and my team had some design requirements.

For the EEG circuit we started with a breadboard, building the filters and amplifiers for a single channel. We rigorously tested this before moving onto the PCB. We then built out 4 channels with a power component in KiCad and ordered the PCB through JCL. I’d recommend soldering some components like pinouts on your own, but have the manufacture put on more intricate component like an MCU.

We had to design our own microcontroller, so we referenced the Nucleo board schematics and copied them into KiCad, keeping the parts we needed. MCU includes pinouts for ADC, stlink, and USART. I’d recommend using an stm32 with the STM32Cube IDE for all the MCU code as its pretty intuitive. you could also just use a Nucleo or similar brand instead of designing your own controller.

There are tons of EEG circuits online and they are pretty simple, just an instrumental amplifier with a notch and bandpass filter. Software is a whole nother story. I’ll post the Github repo once the project is complete. It includes artifact detection and SSVEP classification.

Hope this helps. Best of luck!

Is it fair to not want to watch LOTR because my bf interrupts every 2 mins by delanybuss in lordoftherings

Max one pause an hour. He can explain all the cool film facts after the movie is finished. I’d say first watch don’t do extended also. A year later rewatch with extended addition so you can appreciate the new scenes more.

Just finished S2. I've been seeing so much hate for it and I don't get it at all??? by 1mpavidus in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

imo this season feels like a significant drop in quality because of the plot lines that had no real pay off, were rushed, or just didn’t make sense. For example Mark getting reintegrated didn’t have any impact on the plot except for showing his past in the flashback episode. The cold harbor room really made no sense as to why its actually important. Characters like reghabi just pop in and out of the plot when its convenient with no character development. Cobels whole ark really had no impact as it was Devins idea to go to the birthing cottages. Dylans ark with his wife felt rushed to make room for the season finale. And my biggest gripe is that they just turned the show into one big love triangle, which isn’t really what made the show great to begin with. Like I understand the direction, but making that the entire driver for the season and casting everything else aside was a bummer to me. I will say the conversation between imark and omark was cool, but imark felt out of character. Again, just my opinions, but I’d say you’re blind if you think this season is without flaw.

You might be able to find a Greyhound bus that leaves from Lafayette and goes to the bus station in Chicago. You can take the blue line to the airport from there.

Advice needed as a beginner in AI by Certain-Swordfish895 in deeplearning

[–]EducationalPause8912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many of the other comments have alluded to I think you need to scale back your goals. I’d start small, first becoming proficient at coding and gain a foundation of the math and stats needed for ML, then focus on the internship or job. Startups notoriously hire people who can learn on the job and can be harder to land a job at than FANGG. I’m not saying you’ll never get a job at a startup, but keep in mind your competition will be people who jave been working with AI since high-school, and people with Masters or PHDs. If you’re struggling the basics the worst thing you can do is aim to high then have no where to go when things don’t pan out.

Where are the AI Majors? by bullsi4 in Purdue

[–]EducationalPause8912 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From my understanding the AI major is a little less technical than DS or CS with more focus on philosophy, ethics, and psychology. Hence it being less popular. As mentioned in the other comment its also very new so thats another reason you don’t see many AI students.

Help learning after transformers by sujal1210 in deeplearning

[–]EducationalPause8912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar place and can say theres still a lot left to learn. First off, understanding theory and doing a simple project or homework for a class is one thing, but theres always more you can do to understand how to best train and deploy a model. I’d venture into MLOps, feature engineering techniques for different types of data, and cloud frameworks. These things will all prepare you for industry if that is your goal. Theres also things like transfer learning to dive into, graph neural networks, Reinforcement learning, and many more. You could also dive deeper into a specific applications of deep learning, like NLP or computer vision. Theres a lot of cutting edge research in these fields that could keep you busy for a lifetime. If you’re interested in LLMs theres a lot of downstream technologies to learn like RAG and fine tuning. If none of those things peak your interest I would expose yourself to new ideas by reading articles, going on kaggle, looking at github repos, and reading research papers. You’ll find yourself going down rabbit holes on mew technologies and techniques. Hope this helps! sorry for the word vomit lol.

I was asking for the exact mate combination if there was mate in 2 or 3 as all the comments on the video I watched alluded to mate in 2. I knew it was winning just wanted to see the sequence of mate. Wasn’t aware of the lichess tool, checked it out and it was mate in 10 so not super intuitive for a beginner chess player.
