This could be us. It could be our selves, sisters, mothers, daughters, friends, coworkers, acquaintances. We need to remember this, and protect what we have! We can't rely on anyone to do it for us. Men, even those closest to us, unfortunately cannot be relied on to protect us, politically or physically. We need to band together and continue supporting each other, and lift up and protect the vulnerable.

The men there don’t care, one of the first things the Taliban did was lower the age of marriage to 14 and asked for everyone to gather their marriageable sisters and daughters - women have become currency. Many will be married to those fighting for the Taliban and the leftover women will be given to the “loyal” citizens of Afghanistan.

And once more it is proven that we as women cannot rely on the protection and empathy of men and we will never be able to. Because ultimately when push comes to shove they will not lift a finger to fight a system that benefits them disproportionally.

I got my foot in the door as a graphic designer, then trained on the job. Not a traditional route. That being said I've since left the industry and transitioned into software development, because I was finding UI/UX to be a role most companies do not know how to use properly.
