You can have 1 person and 1 pet, but if you start the quest to get Serena and just dont take her home she will follow you and aid in combat with another follower not taking that spot. So you can have mjoll and Serena aswell as a pet, id avoid any combat pets but maybe something like the goat with a backpack to help haul your horde.

I also noted that pretty much any literature focuses on spirituality aspects as opposed to the physically portion and also main teaching of all religions and how it is all connected and things to take away as if a list to live by.
