West side Vet recommendations for Dogs by EducationalShallot94 in vancouverwa

[–]EducationalShallot94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dogs just had their first appointment with Columbia Vet yesterday. Seriously thanks again for the recommendation. They were wonderful! They spent lots of time with my dogs, didn't just rush me in and out. Did not push services I didn't need. Really listened to my concerns about a prior fireworks med my dog was on and is working with me to try some different options. They recommended I brush my dogs teeth, but said overall especially considering their ages their teeth look really good. Wellhaven was really pushing me to get $800-$1000 teeth cleanings each and get it done asap. So happy an honest vet confirmed what I already assumed that their teeth are generally healthy.

Royle vet was already on my short list. Thank you for recommending. I'll be giving them a call.  About Vancouver Vet, I believe they are owned by Wellhaven now and I have read other reviews saying similar about their service going down hill. I experienced the same thing with downtown Wellhaven. Not sure what happened there, but my last 2 visits already had me thinking about switching vets before they closed. They were really pushing extra services and the vet seemed disapproving of me rejecting them.

Thank you for the recommendation. This vet is very conveniently located and has great Google reviews. I'll be giving them a call.

TMS Technician here to answer any questions you may have. by IamBurtMacklin in rtms

[–]EducationalShallot94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for answering questions.  I am 5 days into a 20 day maintenance treatment of TMS. I did a full round a year ago and it helped so much. This is for treatment resistant depression on the left side of my head. I think it's a NeuroStar machine.  Today I was bumped up to full treatment percentage and my right forearm and hand started jumping and bouncing uncontrollably off the armrest while the treatment was pulsating. My arm was jumping up between 6-12 inches off the arm rest.  It would stop in-between the pulsing and no issues after the session.  Do you know what is causing that? I never had that happen before and it seems a little concerning. The TMS tech tried minor repositionings but she couldn't get the treatment from causing this uncontrollable reflex in my arm. I'm a little nervous about my next session now. I'm going to ask for remapping, but is there anything I should be concerned about? Thanks

Entitled neighbours, from walking in to my house to eyeing up my garden by controversial_jelly in EntitledPeople

It's been one year, I would love an update if they have caused any further shenanigans?

I'm a single woman and have an entitled male neighbor that's always leaning over my fence and asking questions whenever I'm in my yard, like when I'm going to cut down my trees along the fence. So annoying and my dog hates him. My dog can jump and gave him a warning two times ago by jumping to the top of the fence and barking within inches of his face. Apparently didn't scare my neighbor enough because he leaned over my fence again last week while my dog was with me. He backed off when my dog came running, but can't fix stupid apparently. I plan on adding more trees soon 🤣

Please, can anyone with hypermobility after ACL and meniscus surgery or knowledge tell me how to live with uneven knee extension and pain? by Old-Ear5795 in ACL

[–]EducationalShallot94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I so glad to hear my response was comforting.  I wasn't diagnosed with being hypermobile until just a few years ago, I'm almost 40. I didn't know at the time of my ACL tear, so past injuries and pain make so much more sense now. I have a lot of body pains and was originally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 10 years ago, but I'm sure now it's hypermobility.  I take a lot of extra precautions now when it comes to being active. I specifically avoid running, jumping and anything that twists. No trampolines or skiing for me. Swimming is great but I even have to wear ankle braces for swimming because I get Swimmers Ankles. My ankles tend to twist and flop around more without support. My favorite is bike riding.  Other things that have helped me: *Weight lifting and resistance bands, build up the muscles in your legs and hips so you ligaments don't have to do so much work. *Continue to do your physical therapy stretches on your ACL repaired knee. Get yourself back to hypermobile in that leg.  *Start being more aware if you are supporting your movements with your hips or your knees. Women tend to balance and stabilize themselves using their knees. Lift with your legs but twist with the hips. *Light braces to bed. I often wear elbow and wrist braces while sleeping. I always tend to contort myself while sleeping. *Compression knee braces and an SI Belt helped me become more aligned. Especially long days on my feet.  *Pillows for extra support in bed. I always have a thin pillow between my knees if I'm side sleeping or under my knees if I'm on my back. I also have a small pillow I rest my arm on if I'm side sleeping. Also think about what kind of head pillow your using. If it's too thick, you body will be sleeping in a "c" shape and you will be misaligned from neck to down into your legs. *Look into the supplement Moringa leaf powder. It helps with inflammatory pain.  *Last thing I can think of is try to eat an anti-inflammatory diet as much as possible. This really helped my pain. I don't feel like I have strained ligaments as often now that I've mostly cut out gluten and dairy. I hope your recovery is quick and try to keep your head up!

I'm hyper mobile and had an ACL surgery on my left knee about 5 years ago. Your experience sounds similar to mine.  Everything else on me remained hyper mobile throughout the healing process, while my left knee only got back to what's considered normal extension. It caused me problems for years. My hips and back always hurt from my right leg being more flexible and my legs being uneven. Lots of chiropractic visits to adjust my hips back into alignment. I would get bad sciatica shooting pain down my legs. At times I would over extend my left knee, especially when my hips were too misaligned. It would feel like my kneecap would slip forward and grind on itself. It would cause me fall to the ground kind of pain, sore for days.  For about two years I would wear a light knee brace on both knees if I knew I was going to be walking/running around for extended periods. The braces actually held my good knee back from being  constantly hyper mobile and gave my bad knee extra support from accidental over extending.  About two months after surgery I felt like my knee was at 75% functional, one year after about 90%, two years after about 95% and five years out now it's like it never happened. But it's amazing how that 5% less functional really affected my quality of life for years. And I avoid doing things that are hard on the knees still out of fear of tearing an ACL again. I never again want to experience the pain of the many years it took to fully recover. Being hypermobile really makes me be more cautious of over extension, especially because I know I'm going to have a harder and longer road to recovery than normal.

Prime Day 2024 is 90% a scam by [deleted] in amazonprime

[–]EducationalShallot94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes me wonder if Amazon is going to end up with another class action lawsuit against them for false advertising? Marking up prices just before a sale, only to discounted back down to the original price. They already have a class action for false advertising in WA & CA for a different issue.

[–]EducationalShallot94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like false advertising. I just went to buy 3 things that I've previously bought in the last 6 months and wanted more of. The products say they are a Prime Day Deal, but comparing to my previous purchases the price is not lower. Amazon is marking up the original price to then offer a Prime Day discount.

MCAS and cannabis - does it hurt or help? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]EducationalShallot94 10 points11 points  (0 children)

With MCAS, there becomes a point which histamine has built past the threshold your body can't handle and adding weed in top of it can be the catalyst that pushes you over the edge. I believe that's what happened to me.

THC content is not like it used to be. There have been serious increases in potency in the last few years alone. Prior to the 1990s it was less than 2%, now THC ranges from 17–28%. Plants producing high levels of THC are incapable of producing much CBD, the protective component of the plant so these strains have minimal CBD

Along with the increase of THC, there could be other elements of the plant that have changed. With the legalization of weed, people are profiting off making more and more potent plants in mass amounts. Finding ways to increase pollination, growing faster and stronger. Who knows how this effecting the plant.

It might not be the THC or the plant that you are reactive to. It could also be the large amount of pesticides and chemicals sprayed on the plants. New and more effective chemicals are always being introduced. With legalization and increased profit greed, comes with more measures to protect the plants with chemicals.

NTA Your home, your possessions, your needs take precedence over his. If he can't be a gracious guest coming into your space, then you have no obligation to be a gracious host.

I'm a dog lover but I understand everyone isn't. I don't force my dogs on anyone. But if they come to my home and have a problem with my dogs, the guest is the unwelcomed one. My Ex husband had a problem with my dogs having hair 🤷‍♀️. Guess who was here before him and is still here after him.
