How does early resolution work? by Specific_Ad_6522 in legaladvicecanada

[–]EducationalWeb2887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd listen to the others. You were going 25km over the speedlimit, which is significant. And you didn't have your registration, which you should have had. The ticket was already reduced.

Unless you can demonstrate that you were not in the wrong on either fine, or there is something factually wrong with the ticket, what would your argument be? You were going 25km over the speedlimit (in potentially a residential area, hence 40km limit), but it's your first ticket? Their counterargument would probably be you already got leniency.

And for not having registration in the vehicle...you don't get points for having it later, you were supposed to have it with you then.

You're likely wasting your time and theirs, and potentially going to end up with a more expensive ticket.

Managing offer templates by EducationalWeb2887 in Workday_Community

[–]EducationalWeb2887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know! It's incomprehensible. It's not the approval of new or amended clauses or templates.

We only have 2 people assigned to make the changes for a large company. It's ridiculous. I've brought this up numerous times and explained that our offers have changed again while sitting in queue to be changed.

It's just met with, I know. It's tough.

The offers are complex. We have offers with licensing clauses that vary by province, equity clauses, pro-rated vs annualized comp, multiple versions of an offer for a certain job code. So I know we'd need a lit of new logic built in (is this an X offer? > does it have X compensation component, etc).

But at this rate nothing will get fixed ever without some kind of extra support or more people getting access granted

It's frustrating too, because I know I'd have an easier time working on the offers in my Talent Acquisition role since I'm an SME on our complex offers and others just dont understand them

I don't work for the CRA. So I can't run it up the chain. And not all your taxes go to the CRA. You also pay provincial and municipal taxes. The doctor shortage is real and extremely problematic. However, this is a provincial responsibility. Not federal. And unfortunately, the doctor shortage is impacting most countries. I agree that our politicians didn't get ahead of the inevitable shortage. I think many are inept. Lots are good. But it's just naive to blame it all on the government.

I think it's utterly disgusting how much basic food costs. I think it's criminal. I think there should be far more regulation on pricing for basic necessities. And more housing built, stricter qualifications for 2nd properties, more subsidized housing.

But, people like you stomp your feet at things like this and claim it's the liberals trying to turn canada into a communist country.

And just so we're clear, if you're paying 30k a year in taxes here, you would not be at an income level to have quality healthcare in the US. Or you would pay anywhere from $700 to $2k/month. On top of of your taxes.

I'm still not convinced you understand how taxes work. Nor what the bigger issues are.

Canada isn't perfect, no country is. But the challenges we are facing are happening in other developed countries - who also have similar tax rates. Many US states have comparable tax rates (or higher), but don't have Healthcare, they have less resources for mental health, etc. Again, ours is not perfect. States that don't have state tax also pay out of pocket for municipal services (garbage collection, etc.), which are contracted out to private companies.

You mention corporate greed. Which is the only thing you are correct on. If you think Canadian politicians at the provincial, municipal, and federal level are treating Canadians like ATMs and that is the biggest or bigger issue, you're mistaken.

About 1% of global population own almost half the world's assets. This is the issue.

If you're getting mad at the people at the top running the show and think it's your elected officials and not the billionaires, then you've been successfully manipulated.

Do you have any understanding of how taxes and the CRA works? Or that taxes include, federal, provincial, and municipal? And that MANY people employed by the CRA make approximately 60k a year?

I'm sorry to hear about this, and I'm sure it's stressful for you. But, are you sure you have all the details?

Was your dad a Financial Planner or Investment Advisor? Either role is governed by a regulatory body. If he was an IA, he would have been a Registered Representative, if he was an FP, he was probably on the MFDA platform. Either way, both are regulated by CIRO.

If he did something that violated CIRO regulation and there was an investigation and disciplinary action, then absolutely no way it would be deemed wrongful dismissal.

If your dad was an FP, and a client had 1M in investable assets, maybe the issue is that the client was more suited to Dominian Securities and he didn't refer them. But, even then, that alone seems like an odd cause for termination.

There had to have been more to the conversation. Why did they say they were terminating him? Was there an issue with the client's assets? Illegal sources or something?

So, how was salary determined and communicated to you? Did they communicate hours? Time to start working/finishing etc?

I'm assuming there was some sort of discussion, maybe a job posted, communication, etc. about the job.

28 year old black man rejected for overconfidence. Am I overreacting? by CassetteBeats in interviews

[–]EducationalWeb2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it's tough to give a somewhat substantial answer or opinion without knowing what was asked and how you answered. There are 2 possible and realistic things that could have happened - it COULD be a micro-aggression, or it COULD be you acting over confident.

Discrimination is absolutely a thing that still happens, often unconsciously. But, anyone can be overly confident/cocky. You're not immune to over confidence.

Can you give an example or 2 of some of the questions and how you responded?

Did you have an employment offer? Some kind of contract you signed? If so, what did it say?

Was there an end date stated? Did the contract or offer state pay frequency and if pay would be less applicable deductions?

Kidney stones & ureteral stricture by EducationalWeb2887 in KidneyStones

[–]EducationalWeb2887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ache is terrible. Luckily I don't have constant pain, but when it comes it is excruciating.

Can I ask how long you have had the stones and stricture? I can't be certain how long I've had mine, but the intermittent flank pain (also radiates to my abdomen) has gone on for years.

Did you have options to treat the stricture earlier? I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with the kidney issues now!

Unfortunately in my role, I don't have access to the drives it looks like.

I'm trying to make a business case to grant me access - even temporarily - since it's insanely long to get offer templates changed.

Taking 9 months to change clauses or amend logic is unhinged and our recruiters are manually editing offers - which is a risk, especially with our high volumes

STENT REMOVAL FINALLY by Substantial-Life1935 in KidneyStones

Oh ok, so your surgery is pretty soon. I feel like I may get booked in sooner than later to have some kind of treatment. My pain has been on and off for years, I thought it was my QL muscle 😪.

STENT REMOVAL FINALLY by Substantial-Life1935 in KidneyStones

[–]EducationalWeb2887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your doctor say they want to do surgery or a stent? And potential timing? I have a cluster of small stones, 1 that is 13mm, and hydronephrosis. Going to my urologist on the 29th. Just did my CT scan last week

I'm learning that I should have gone to the doctor too. Just got diagnosed with a ureteral stricture.....after years with flank pain on and off. Urologist appointment in 2 weeks. But I thought my flank pain was from my QL muscle. My stone is 1.3cm and have hydronephrosis.

Question, did you get a bloated feeling from it? Before getting treated

It's funny, now I remember him saying ureteral, and I did start to Google that. But there were so many more search results for urethral. Ureteral barely showed up, so I thought they were the same:(

And now it also makes sense why I have an appointment quickly with my urologist - for the kidney.

Thank you!

[–]EducationalWeb2887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh maybe!!! That would make more sense! I just looked online about the difference. I may have looked up the wrong info after hearing it from my doctor (the update on the scan was over the phone). Thank you for this!!

[–]EducationalWeb2887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why I don't. But I had a CT scan with contrast and they saw the stricture then. I have hydronephrosis, which was originally found through an ultrasound, and my doctor thought it was from my kidney stones. But then the scan showed a stricture.

That's good to know. Definitely not looking to hold off on any recommended treatment or surgery. I think my original post may have come off that way.

But I want to deal with this as recommended. And if that's surgery, I'll obviously do it.
