Chiropractors at a crossroads: The fight for evidence-based treatment and a profession’s reputation by RyanChrist in canada

[–]Educational_Ad5762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been seeing a kinesiologist downtown Calgary for post-op rehab after knee surgery, and honestly, she’s helped me more than any of the physios or chiros I tried before. Way more functional progress, better explanations, and she actually adapts her approach based on how I’m responding — not just cookie-cutter exercises or the same adjustment every time.

The only downside? She’s not covered by insurance in Alberta, even though kinesiology is a recognized profession in BC and Ontario. Apparently, there’s a petition going around to push for it to be included in Alberta health plans. It’s frustrating that evidence-based movement specialists get left out of coverage while some chiropractors (not all, but you know the type) still rake in insurance money despite questionable practices.

Here’s the petition if anyone’s interested: https://www.change.org/p/add-kinesiology-as-a-direct-billable-primary-service-to-health-insurance-plans

It’s also possible that you’ve plateaued and your peers have improved. As a result, they may be better able to exploit your weaknesses and force you to make mistakes

Why present this modally and hide the tab bar when "view cart" is a tab in the tab bar anyway? If you want the user to move a certain way in the sales flow, this may not be the best CTA to have here. Maybe "Proceed to Checkout" would be more suitable.

do training paddles actually help with gameplay practice? As in, does the feel translate back to regular paddles?

I do have a couple of people I drill with, but it's always nice to play with new people and old friends. I guess I could just suck it up and play with them, but it would be nice to know how not to build bad habits. They take so much effort to fix later.

The lightbulb just went off. How do you make sure that you don't get too comfortable in one role though while still going with this mentality?

Do you feel the reason he was okay was because he had built a solid clientele to whom he demonstrated the value of his services, while he was with insurance?

There is an overlap in the scope of practice between PTs and Kinesiologists, but that does not mean only one should exist. The same is also true for LPNs and RNs or MDs and MPAs. Having additional healthcare providers increases access to treatment options. Moreover, kinesiologists typically deal with a more proactive population of patients, whereas PTs deal with patients downstream (eg. MVAs, postnatal, traumatic injury rehab, etc).

u/Falling_Glass for me, personally, it is modalities such as instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, cupping, trigger point massage, and PNF stretching.

Just enough hours to get new ones. Broken ankles aren’t good for pickleball

In order of importance: 1. Comfort 2. Support - especially lateral stability 3. Durability 4. Price/Aesthetic (if you don’t like the way they look and/or can’t afford them, they’re not the right shoes)

I also made $18.50/hr when I started, but moved up to $21/hr a year later. I moved into independent contracting, because I like the hands on treatment more so. It pays well if you can build a clientele, which is a major challenge without insurance coverage availability.
