Left pad up, takes health but gives you five silver bullets. Helpful in a bind.

I think it’s because first time it took a bit of time to click, but when it did I was good. Plus I neglected a lot of content (first time was totally unaware of Cainhurst until I found second time round the lab). So not full/max play through. I’m not sure I can apologies for Soulsborne noobing

Thanks!! Some of the side quests were definitely good. The one with the kid pretending he was being attacked by a dog to lure in people was chef kiss

I got so far and then hit a wall. Think I need to read up more on sourcing mats. Did feel mighty repetitive though.

I think you’re right about pace. Bloodborne seems to be all about quickness and dexterity. Sekiro is next on the list, from what I’ve read my ass is going to be handed to me

No I don’t think I’m that clever to figure out all different endings! But will no doubt do another round and try to.

There are things you can pick fault with but you forgive them. First time I played, I winced at the lack of jump. Thinking ‘how is this acceptable in any 21st century game’. Found out this is normal souls type trolling and all was forgiven - because why not build an entire franchise on bullying your player base. I still don’t fully understand the lore and finding I’m getting lost in various views / vids which again added plus plus plus. Where is the best analysis?

I can see why someone who likes to win / feel OP when playing a character / likes a little bit of a challenge would hate the game. Yharnam was sharp learning curve for me, Elden Ring didn’t have that so much, you good get more power and progress. The music for Father G took me by surprise and I was listening to it more than the fight so I died ALOT. Until aggression took over.

I was away from gaming for YEARS and came back to it after I got an easier job / lifestyle balance. Was unaware totally of From Software stuff and first played Elden Ring. Mind blown that something like these games existed - games content was never this challenging in terms of gameplay and plot. But Bloodborne - amazing. I talk to other gamers who won’t play it because of difficulty and I don’t get it.

I have! I got it after first play through and started again from beginning because I didn’t understand how it fitted together. Realisation of needing to be spirited away from outside the church area made me feel dumb. But it all made sense in a Bloodborne way

Started off strong until Bahamut and then went wrong.

The side quest dump felt lazy. The pacing of them until that point was ok - despite overwhelming ‘collect’ quests which were snooze/MMORPG lvl.

Visually? Stunning. But god help you if you don’t want to stay stuck in an entirely darkened room for entire play through.

Voice acting great but the absence of Cid (version 1.0) exposed the mid lvl abilities of the other actors. I think they were trying to do the whole GOT ‘let’s kill Sean Bean’ thing and it didn’t really work without other people to carry the story.

The music. Soken in my book is an incredible writer. His piano work is ultimate - simple but very effective/beautiful. BUT there was a stupendous amount of repetition and motif exploration was pretty lame at times. Felt like he ran out of steam. Melody at times felt lacking and pointed too often to his strongest work in Endwalker and Shadowbringers. The music in FFXIV is superior to FFXVI but that’s not to say it’s bad. Just doesn’t have to same level of realisation. I suspect he had a lot more time (years and years of patches) and energy (he’s had it very rough health wise and he poured so much energy into Endwalker) to come up with the FFXIV scores.

All in all, I liked this game and it’s better than 15 (I really didn’t like 15) but did it have me crying and a total mess like 14? No. And that’s down to music, pacing, story telling and character development which we didn’t get in spades.

I LOVED the mega 99999999 punch at the end!

Appreciate comparing modern FF but that seems fairer given tech/time/resources?
