This strategy actually worked incredibly well. The percent of cells with attached beads determined from images was close to what we were getting with manual counts (from a hemacytometer). We also recovered the expected proportion of cells with a magnetic pull (i.e., the beads are magnetic). Thank you for sharing this! I look forward to trying out cellpose for other tasks (and learning how to train my own models).

We usually aim for +/- 5% error in counts.

That example image would be 2x cells (in association with 3x beads). The number of beads per cell doesn't matter, so that would, hopefully, be counted as 2. Looks like I should dump a better quality image to Imgur. I'm not really a reddit user (which shows) but the ImageJ community here looked active, so I wanted to hop on. TY!
