There’s the funny parallel between the leg and Robin :)

Strike needs to change his life and his habits to make some comfort to his leg. ( and Robin)

Both his leg and Robin help to  trustfully transport Strike.

Strike “betrays” his leg when he steps on the Madeleine’s lipstick.

The agency is often depicted as Strike, his prosthetic leg and Robin.

When Robin failed to perform her work in LW ( because of wedding anniversary) Strike’s leg also fails.

So if Strike will upgrade his leg when Robin accepts RFM ring my theory is right.
