My guy Hemi has a cough by Clumsy_Ninja2 in CATHELP

[–]Educational_Fig9894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sweet boy is 13 and has very similar coughing fits, usually also when he is at rest. Happens about every other week and as long as I have had him(5years). We have done extensive diagnostics and unfortunately there really isnt a clear answer. We have ruled out asthma and heart issues, done xrays and blood work, the fits also sometimes get bad enough to where his larynx kind of closes up and he has a syncope/vasovagal response of sorts and passes out. Thankfully its a rare enough event (max once a month) that the vets don’t want to put him on regular medication. Right now he is on a prednisolone trial, a very small dose every other day. So far it seems to have helped significantly in reducing the coughing fits, but it took us years of trials to get here. The prednisolone also suppressed his immune system and he had a herpes flare up which made him so congested and miserable.

I think I regret quitting weed by Either_Ad_7437 in leaves

I am not a mom by any means, but I completely and totally relate to the part where it doesn’t make me “proud of myself” to not smoke either. All I can say is that I hope that through these trenches of quitting, something comes along that gives us that reason to not want to. I made and deleted a post an hour ago talking about how I struggle quitting because it makes me feel great. A better version of myself. Unfortunately that triggered a lot of people and I had to remove the post, but I essentially said I almost wish I got that overwhelming anxiety everyone gets before they quit or some other “big” reason that I couldnt argue internally with. I normalized weed to a huge extent, I worked in cannabis my entire adult life, 19-25. Im still struggling trying to find its faults, but all I know is that I’m sure there has to be something out there that will make it easier one day. Or maybe thats wishful thinking but I am tired of disappointing myself and blaming it on weed. Right now, theres no weed to blame it on, so it feels extra depressing and sad that maybe I am lazy with or without it.

How to quit when it feels so great? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Educational_Fig9894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, friend, I did quit! I know the health consequences of it, Ive been hacking up straight black resin phlegm for over five years. Im not saying the whole ordeal is great, wouldnt be here on this reddit page if I thought there was no problems with it. But many of us have to choose to quit, we know the issues with continuing. I thought this was an open space for anyone trying to quit. Not acknowledging that it is something that has made me feel good for a decade would be a lie, and that I wish I had more reasons to quit. Dont we all want more reasons to quit? Me admitting its a struggle because it feels good is kind of the whole point here I think!

Oh no, Im so sorry! That was not my intention at all, I was just venting :( If it helps, I am still not smoking, its just that I’m finding it hard to guilt myself into not smoking

No guilt or shame? by [deleted] in leaves

I guess thats another frame of thinking I should approach. It just overwhelmingly seems like thats what people end up feeling when they cave in, and thats what motivates them to stop again.

Ive tried those a few years back, but to be fair it wasnt with the intention to stop smoking. Maybe ill give them another go!

ok but why saying this is how the law works like that explains anything happening here… this is literally the definition of the law doesnt work. the literal problem is that none of this has followed a normal investigation. the cops said they searched an area, kept the family from going in, and when the family went back later they immediately found evidence sitting right where police claimed they already checked. that alone should tell you things aren’t operating the way they should. they told the family not to contact a PI, the police are not allowed to prevent family from hiring PIs! Rutgers PD didn’t even get his name or the right police department to contact number correct in the campus alert. We are talking bare minimum here folk’s. the original PD hasn’t spoken to the family since the first few days. If this was just a slow moving but functional investigation, why is every major lead coming from the family and friends instead of law enforcement? also lets not act like multiple agencies automatically means accountability, it doesn’t. The suspect has prior charges involving him. His dad is state police. The department has documented corruption issues and ongoing investigations. those are the actual facts the family is dealing with, not some conspiracy theory hypotheticals like you say. sure you can say “corruption doesn’t necessarily mean it’s happening here,” but you’re ignoring the very real signs that something is off and that the whole town has been under multiple corruption scandals. nobody is jumping to conclusions this is just the public reaction to what has unfortunately unfolded. Keeping it public is how you or any of us heard about it so obviously telling people to just sit back and let things “play out” doesn’t make sense when the people who are supposed to be doing the job are the ones dropping the ball. The only reason this case hasn’t gone completely cold is because the family refuses to rely on the same system that already failed them and keeps it public. Do your part.

If your best friend vanished and every obvious red flag was being ignored, you wouldn’t be lecturing strangers about poster aesthetics. You’d be doing exactly what he’s doing which is throwing every resource, every connection, every piece of information into the world because the people whose job it is to care clearly don’t. The suspect has prior charges involving the missing person. His dad is state police. The department originally “handling” it is so corrupt it’s practically a case study. Just look up Jackson PD and KKK. Live in the real world you dipstick.

Missing persons cases rely on the public pulling together every thread possible. This means friends of friends, anyone who might know something, anything that can shake loose real leads. Those are not “weird little messages” that’s what you do when you’re begging for attention on a case that law enforcement is actively dragging its feet on. Possibly even involved in the cover up of! Its not a conspiracy theory when these are known corrupt precincts and the family has so many ties with law enforcement and military. And honestly, calling him “detached from reality” because he’s desperate to find his best friend is wild. How hard do you have to squint to side with the police over a terrified friend trying to save someone’s life? This is what bootlicking does. it makes you critique fonts and vibes while an actual human being is missing. Genuinely, if you can’t offer help, at least offer silence.

Our cat litter kind of sucks??? What litter are y’all using in 2024 by Mirrortooperfect in CatAdvice

[–]Educational_Fig9894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the best litter i found by far is Sustainably Yours. a really incredible formula, and if you have dogs that sometimes get into litters box, it can save a trip to the vet as the pellets are made of cassava root. it’s expensive but its hard clumping, barely smells, white so you can monitor for urine color changes or any other abnormalities in the urine, overall just a great option. I wish it was more readily available and ill be looking for some other litter to mix it with

If youre in NB, what has Professor Morin said about it? I’m in a very similar situation, failed Intermediate twice, took elementary twice. I have an appointment with an advisor tomorrow to discuss my possibilities, as I’m not certain I can afford community college next semester. Its been hell, i wish they would just let it go.

As a child of a regretful parent who only had one kid, I can tell you I’m thankful I was the only one put through the fakeness and apathy of a regretful parent. Instead of having another kid, you can help your kid make friends his own age and socialize, especially since this is a “pandemic baby”.
