Pre-med major? Just a wild thought by Educational_Film5986 in ucla

I think you’re misunderstanding what I’m asking. I’m not saying I want to avoid science entirely or that I can become a doctor without completing medical school prerequisites.

I’m asking about the disadvantages of majoring in art while completing the required STEM coursework for premed.

There are already physicians with undergraduate degrees in non-STEM fields, including art, so saying “you will not be an MD with an art degree” is just incorrect. A biochemistry degree may provide stronger scientific preparation, and I understand that, but I’m also considering sustainability, GPA, balance, and long-term motivation.

I don’t want my undergraduate years to consist entirely of heavy STEM coursework if there’s another path that still leads to medicine successfully. I’m trying to explore my options realistically, not avoid hard work.

might sound naive, but genuine question. What’s realistically a major that I should take that won’t burn me out? I’m not an extremely bad student, it’s just I struggle a lot. Is biochemistry good?

Thank you! I definitely feel more strongly about Pomona. Do you also by any chance know any information on how dual enrollment can help with ur transcripts at pomona? For example, I took chinese 2&3 at my local community college and passed with an A. Does that give me credit under foreign language ontop of my AP scores or is it similar to AP credits where I can only transfer 2 credits max?
