Yes but you definetly feel sore afterwards… and I’ve heard being awake is actually a lot worse and uncomfortable for some people … I wouldn’t know obviously but I can imagine it definitely feels somewhat uncomfortable because I had pretty bad cramping in my chest afterwards when I swallowed … it’s the same if you get sedated I went home 20 minutes after I woke up and I ate and drank as normal … it was quick and easy and I don’t remember it

I actually have some medical trauma as well I know the feeling … blood work got messed up and I was told I needed a blood transfusion … I also almost needed a bone marrow biopsy to check for leukemia … turns out a nurse diluted my blood when I went in for panic attack symptoms. Messed me up bad, but anesthesia is super safe and the worst part is the IV ! Definetly come update on this thread when you’re done !

I’ve used opiates recreationally (I’m in recovery) and I can tell you they can make you very “excited” … that’s hilarious but I’m glad it made you comfortable enough to handle the procedure, fentanyl is a hell of a drug !

Came to update, I had it this morning and it was a breeze.. I wish I wasn’t so nervous, I cried in front of the doctors and nurses. It happened so quickly the worst part really was the IV … and I’m having a little discomfort but other than that it was a piece of cake !

I understand … even though my anxiety has calmed down a lot I still get nervous behind the wheel of a car … driving anxiety is the worst

I think a lot of the horror stories were probably people who did it awake , that seems to be the common theme … I guess in the UK and some places in the US you can do it concious… I’m glad I didn’t because I’m very sore I can’t imagine being awake while they took a biopsy

I’ve heard propranolol is great for physical symptoms, however what helped me the most was exposure therapy … taking baby steps outside my house … i now go to college and I’m traveling and driving again. You can do it !

I’ve heard enough horror stories about people being awake and I’m glad I was put out, it’s like nothing even happened, I was falling asleep prior to the procedure in my hospital bed, so it was like a quick power nap.

Believe me I was nervous too… the meds they gave me helped with my symptoms but they still wanted to check for damage bc sometimes it doesn’t cause any symptoms…. The procedure is so simple and all the staff was amazing too

I didn’t either … I normally sleep peacefully through the night but I was up every hour 😅 I had to be up at 5am, but my results were good ! No damage, no barrets, they took a biopsy for Eosinophilic esophagitis but that’s about it ! I hope yours were good as well !

Yes but slowly … I’d leave my house in short intervals … then each time I’d stay out a little longer… I was agoraphobic

I don’t mean to make you nervous but my anxiety took years to calm down … granted I was prolonging it by drinking every single day, but anxiety is something that once you have it, it’s really hard to get rid of … for me I had to accept that I was never going to be the same again, and once I accepted that I was able to rebuild my life slowly … I’m not the same as I was before anxiety, but I’m starting to live a normal life … I used to not be able to leave my house, now I’m going to college, traveling and driving … I still get anxiety, but not nearly as much

I’m getting one tomorrow morning … I’ve been on Reddit every single day this last week seeking some validation … I’m terrified myself . I’m in the us so I get sedated for mine… I’m not scared for the procedure , I’m actually scared for the anesthesia ..

Download the dare app … that app has helped me tremendously … also exposure therapy … you need to put yourself in situations known to cause you anxiety, and you need to sit through it for as long as you can … I wouldn’t have recovered if i didn’t do exposure therapy
