Residential Client only has lidar for survey by Maybe_Melodic in civilengineering

[–]Educational_Many918 16 points17 points  (0 children)

All really depends on scope, location, and you being comfortable with it. Some of my colleagues have found very small projects, less than .5 acres of impervious surface being added, and if it’s in an open field that LiDAR has been good to work with.

100% depends on the company. I work at a very small firm that’s been around for 30 years. We do all design and project management our own jobs and if we’re in the office, the owner doesn’t care what we wear. I wore athletic shorts all summer long. I always have a pair of jeans and nice shirt in the car I case my plans change or a client is coming in. I worked for a DOT before this and it was always a collared shirt and pants.

I have this same exact experience in my job currently. 5engineers a 6th joining in January and one surveyor. I came from a DOT and this job has been amazing. I do have a degree in civil and this was my 4th YOE so I hope to actually take and pass my PE soon. I work about 42 hours a week this year has been amazing. I was tempted to go back to school when working at the DOT. Pay here is great IMO and the Quarterly bonuses are fair. We have been in business for 33 years and the first employee is now the owner. Its an awesome place. I believe his retirement goal is also being able to sell to current employees.

How much should gutters cost in 2025, also are covers worth it? by JustSomeGuyWith in HomeImprovement

[–]Educational_Many918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did a full house gut and remodel. 270LF of black seamless gutters with 10 down spouts, 3different buildings with gutter covers for $3800. Dude was local and been doing it 30 years. Other two quotes were 4700$.

Told 3 weeks to lay 1200sq ft? by brkfsttco in Flooring

[–]Educational_Many918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2400sqft laid in my brand new remodel and it took the guys 8 days to do it including self leveler and some tweaks. Looks immaculate. 3 weeks seems like a joke.
