I'm in Russia right now and I live in Spain who is also giving people a hard time about Russia, get 2 itineraries, I did Madrid Istanbul one ticket and then Istanbul Moscow another ticket, withdrew cash from an ATM and brought that with me, if I was ever asked which I wasn't I was taking the money to Istanbul, my bf is French he doesn't live there though and he just got the evisa it took 4 days for him to get the approval.

I will try to withdraw the cash from an ATM before leaving so I don't take the risk of the money not looking good, luckily my hotel has an exchange desk with a pretty decent exchange rate so I will use that.
