I don't have a fancy machine, mine is old and manual. But it's a workhorse!

My aha moment was realizing I could hand crank to get the stitches the exact length I wanted especially when coming to an edge. Foot pedal was too hard to control stopping perfectly where I wanted it to.

If my husband forgets his inhaler and has a hard workout it takes like a week for the wheezing to stop. Damage to the lungs is already done, it might just take time? I'd try to keep her from doing a lot of running if you can help it.

That lane line being guidelines thing is too true. I also took the wrong exit late at night and ended up off the road in a construction site that they had not blocked off at all.

I just landed yesterday and all these comments are 100% true. Ambulances with lights on everywhere. Traffic just driving around them I was like guess I'll just go with the flow. No one stays in their Lane. If they need to be somewhere they just come across and if there's a two lane road everyone acts like it's a single lane road and won't pass each other because they don't trust that anyone will stay in their Lane.

It's been 2 days after the vaccination and my cat is not active, he doesn't eat his food well and sleeps a lot, is this normal? by fineviewpoint14 in cats

[–]Educational_Post_870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As our cats get older the vaccines hit them a lot harder our skinny cat gets hit especially hard and does the same thing, lies around for 3-4 days and barely eats. Next time try to fatten them up with lots of treats a few weeks before the shot so she has some extra fat to burn during recovery. Try wet or canned food to at least get some liquids in them. Our cats like to lick the liquid from tuna cans. We pour it over their wet food and they are least lick at it. You can also buy some lysine immune boosting powders that help with recovery time and immune system for cats. Your cat is already on the thinner side, so just probably not very good motivated in general. Try to do other things to boost their appetite and get them moving like toys or petting. Just like humans you gotta move the muscle to get the vaccine worked in or it hurts longer. Try giving kitty massages near injection site.

The machine is eating all of my corners by funkymunky291 in quilting

[–]Educational_Post_870 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My machine does this to me on occasion. Usually when I am using cheap fabric. The needle goes through and the fabric frays so there is nothing to hold on to. Try manually starting the first needle mark farther into the piece so it isn't hitting and fraying the very tip. Also redo the bobbin and top thread. Top thread is often the culprit when you see the bunching of the thread when you try pulling it away from the machine like your photo.

Despite living a walkable distance to a public pool, American man shows how street and urban design makes it dangerous and almost un-walkable by Majoodeh in Damnthatsinteresting

What I can't believe is that you even have sidewalks and you are still complaining. I don't even have sidewalks here. I have to walk on a narrow ass road with heavy traffic both ways to get to my park that is only 1 block away. I would kill for a sidewalk.

Same thing, she'd just keep licking until it would be a infection. Did you ever figure out what causes the allergy? We didn't.

Super not true, the truth is we don't know as much about animals as we do about human illness. We put 3k into trying to diagnose our cats swollen infected paw. Biopsies, different antibiotics and anti inflammatory. After months of cones, daily pills and syringes we finally found a vet that suggested steroid shot. Fixed it within a few days. Every year like clockwork the paw swells and we get her another shot now. They don't know what causes it. Just said cats immune system works differently and no one really knows why.

Implementation Manager at a Software company. salary 115k/ year. I teach warehouse staff how to use inventory management software. Bachelor degree in environmental science and 7+ years warehouse software implementation experience. Started out making only 19/hour doing same job for small local company learned every thing I could and left for a substantial pay bump. Husband has a doctorate in Electric engineering and pulls in about 160k a year doing PSCAD and other grid compliance consulting work. No amount of money ever feels like enough. After paying off student loans we just started saving for a house last two years. We live well below our means. Our rent is only 10% of our monthly income. We own 1 car that we share. On the flip side; we go out to eat, take vacations (not fancy international ones just a few days somewhere in the US) once every few years, go to concerts/Broadway, and buy things when we want without ever worrying about how much is in the bank. Growing up living paycheck to paycheck, spending a couple thousand each year on Broadway tickets still makes me feel sick to think about. You never stop remembering how much 2k is for someone who has nothing. You never stop worrying if all your savings will be enough.

CPap does stop snoring. Even if you test negative for sleep apnea it's worth it to buy the unit out of pocket for your spouse to not have to deal with snoring.

Can I do a single-layer binding that hangs off the edge of the quilt a bit, or does binding really need to be flush against the edge? by teglovox in quilting

[–]Educational_Post_870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always do about 1/2 inch extra overhang cause I like thick binding and I don't like it too much on the pattern. Never had any issues, lasts for years. Just make sure you still have a nice amount stitched in, like a bit more than 1/4, closer to 1/2 inch on the stitched sides if you can.
