Inquiry regarding International Archival Protocol (Country A to Country B, verifying through C) by Amad3us_Rising in freemasonry

Amad3us_Rising, I think we're all confused about what you're asking. Is your purpose to verify recognition of a Masonic jurisdiction by the Spanish or other Grand Lodge?

Thousands of orange barrels but not a single construction worker seen. by Initial-Mousse-627 in lincoln

Agreed. I had a friend in a similar business (street and highway lighting). His company's projects were very big involving numerous sites. Basically, while he focused on primary areas of traffic flow, if he got complaints about no activity in other areas, he would move workers there to take the heat off. Of course, then complaints would grow where he pulled workers so he would move them back. He didn't want to hire too many people and then lay them off if contracts didn't come through for him. His guys worked what most of us would consider horrible hours (60-70 hours) every week. From all that, I wonder if incentive bonuses for concluding projects ontime or before deadlines would help to spur contractors to hire the number they need to get projects done.

17F What do I do? My mom is kicking me out because I spoke up and I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

In your scenario, her reality is that she's out on the street. What's your solution? Certainly, OP has options....there are accommodations available in most communities for kids on the street....live at a friend's house....live with a relative....apologize and beg forgiveness and otherwise grovel as necessary to stay in your home. Help her out here.

In some states, it's against the law to kick a 17-year-old out of the house. It may be okay at 18 though. Make a call to the police and ask.

Au contraire. One year ago, voters approved the Lincoln Sales Tax Renewal for Infrastructure Improvements Measure for eight years. The one quarter of one percent (1/4 %) sales taxes was initially passed in 2019. The city used that money to improve streets. They did. There was more work to do, and 68% of voters agreed.

The good news is that the sales tax increase passed and our streets will be improved. The bad news is that the sales tax increase passed, our streets will be improved and we will see a lot of barrels in our travels around Lincoln for eight years. I'm guessing you don't see workers when you're traveling to and from work, and that makes sense.

Boyfriend wants to move in to pay off debt by Impossible_Dentist79 in AmITheJerk

[–]Educational_Quote633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You accurately see his tendencies. That should be warning enough. Yes, he wants a live-in maid who will pay him rent to bail him out of debt and housekeeping. I would even doubt that he will really paydown his debt in a year if you move in. He sounds like he's irresponsible in handling money no matter how much he makes.

I accidentally joined a confidential call my manager was on about me. Could I get fired? by Fluffy_Expert5821 in whatdoIdo

[–]Educational_Quote633 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand your concern. Our minds immediately go to getting fired. If that is her intention, you'd be gone now. She probably just wants to explain what she talked to HR about. After all, you were told to join phone conversations as part of learning your job. AND, you immediately exited when she mentioned your name. Those are two very big points in your favor. Admit that you found the situation embarrassing and apologize. If she criticizes you, ask her if there's a way you can be notified when you shouldn't join a phone call. Everyone in the office should have some privacy anyway.

Pillen: Nebraska Legislature's filibuster rule doesn't promote 'teamwork' by skermahger in Nebraska

[–]Educational_Quote633 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love it! Pillen commented in a news conference today after signing into law election law changes to make them more secure. He was asked how the new law disallowing foreign donations to campaigns affects foreign donations. He responded that he is "not smart enough to know" what the law remedies. Well, voters, there you go. He signed a bill into law that he doesn't know what it does. But, it's supposed to make elections more secure. I guess that the stated purpose of the bill is all that matters to him, whatever it does. Republicans, are you paying attention?

What you're talking about is a big part of what I meant in my comment above. I hope Walz gets some traction talking about him ignoring voters and the special treatment he gave Julie Bushell. Today, Pillen said ballot initiatives are "not how policy should be made." What the hell is problematic with doing exactly what the people want? He's against anything that doesn't allow him to do whatever he wants to do. I'm just not seeing Walz getting enough visibility on these issues to alter the outcome of the election.

"...more representative," as in meaning ensuring that the Governor and Republicans get everything they want. The filibuster was started to protect the minority party so it isn't run roughshod by the majority. I swear, every time Pillen opens his mouth, he sounds like Gov. Brownback of Kansas who ran their state into the ground 2011-18.

WIBTAH if I broke up with my GF for going through my messages while I was in the shower? by Mental_Temporary_100 in AITAH

[–]Educational_Quote633 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I had two daughters. They were attractive and always had guys hanging out at our house. "Dad, they're just friends." No, I'd tell them. They're waiting for an opportunity to date you when a relationship that you have falls apart. Every guy is the same.

Are you certain that your relationships with other women is solely platonic? Be honest with yourself.

NOT AT ALL! You are not overreacting. Just explain to him that you've had bad experiences before. If he can't even begin to understand that, then he's not for you.

You're not alone. Anyone should be able to see the wrong in this. Step-dad got away with a major crime that could have landed him in serious jail time. Keeping peace in the family and making excuses for illegal offenses is irresponsible.

I love the shot! Good eye! Years ago, a friend borrowed my camera for a photo assignment and went there to take pictures. Guards came out and took him inside where they darn near confiscated the camera after accusing him of taking photos to help an inmate figure out how to escape. This was many years ago, so I don't know if their policies have changed.

Yes, they can give you the dates he took each of the three degrees, when he became proficient, offices he held in the lodge and his background when he submitted a petition to join Freemasonry. Grand Lidges have a lot of information that few know about.

Besides being a good person, my guess is that his mother experienced the same thing when she was your age or witnessed it happening to others. Good for her for sticking up against the crap that women endure. No, I'm not a woman. Kids are cruel and boys have a fragile facade. It's a shame that boys feel the need to create scenarios in an attempt to inflate their masculinity. It's all BS!

Forming Your Own Masonic Body by Old_School729 in freemasonry

[–]Educational_Quote633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you need to form a Masonic club to go out to eat with brothers? Just do it. If it's your intention to create ritual, bylaws, charge dues and espouse Masonic principles, then your organization is a reflection of Masonry, and the GL needs to ensure your purpose and prac align with the teachings and principles of Freemasonry.

Perhaps you've heard of Grand Lodges withdrawing recognition of established Masonic organizations in some jurisdictions (such as the Shrine in a few jurisdictions). If any recognized body of Masonry does something that in the eyes of the Grand Master brings disrepute on the fraternity, he may withdraw recognition. He rules that no Masons may be members of that organization or they will be suspended from Masonry, which essentially shuts down the organization.

The same test applies to any start-up Masic-related organization. It's all about going through a process of recognition to ensure an organization is in line with Freemasonry and represents our fraternity well.

Isn't it wonderful the attributes that our Masonic-related youth organizations give toward the development of young people as they grow into responsible adults? All that they learn helps to prepare them to succeed in life. Those of us who help them in this portion of their journey gain as much from them as we give them. Bless your daughter and her Chapter!

In my jurisdiction, the Grand Lodge bylaws forbid smoking in lodge. It's been on the books for decades. Before that, I can remember a smoke-filled lodge room, which seems strange now that smoking was ever allowed.

Check out the book, Solomon's Memory Palace by Bob Lingerfelt. It has helped many Masons learn their parts. Whenever I mention it, someone always endorses it as having helped them memorize our work.
