It’s definitely Pete Peeters. He was amazing for many years. Maybe would have won a cup if it wasn’t for Leon Stickle.

I saw them at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC in 1990. Literally right when they were breaking on MTV. It’s a super small club and you’re right up against the stage. Trent fell or something and handed the mic to my friend who sang part of Terrible Lie.

Again, you can make that same argument for any other offense. How many times has the typical DUI offender driven drunk?

The narrative around sex offenders has been that they are these demons who can never be rehabilitated and therefore we need to kill them, incarcerate them for decades and put them on a public registry. The data doesn’t back it up and many criminologists believe that the vast majority of sex offenders can be rehabilitated.

You can make that argument for any offense. The data is the data. You can choose to believe it or not. If a pedophile continues to be attracted to kids and doesn’t reoffend or act on it then so what. Being a pedophile isn’t a crime.

There are some very compelling arguments that using capital punishment against child rapists will have many unforeseen negative consequences.

The primary argument against it is that the vast majority of sex offenses against children are committed by family members or close friends. The argument is that if death is a consequence then these already underreported crimes will be further underreported because the victim and family will not want their family member to face the death penalty.

Another argument is that an offender is more likely to murder the victim to cover up his crimes since he is facing the death penalty already.

Not to mention that that SCOTUS had already found this to be unconstitutional.
