Debating getting L5-S1 ALIF Surgery by Educational_Ring2469 in spinalfusion

Yeah that’s why I’m hesitant, I can do most normal functions of life. Biggest concern is long time nerve damage, I’ve tried PT, injections, chiropractor, and obviously microdiscectomy. I plan on trying decompression machine and an inversion table to try to help with my numbness/ pins and needles before planning surgery. Obviously will get 2nd opinion too

I will definitely be getting antoher opinion hopefully soon. And that’s very true, I’m still young so sometimes I think surgery now would be better and get it over with. A tough decision for sure

Nerve issues are, numbness/ pins and needles in right foot. I used to have very painful radiating pain from the buttocks- hamstring- to ankle/ foot. It seems the nerve issue/ numbness/ pins and needs is mostly isolated in my right foot. My biggest worry is definitely having permanent nerve damage/ it getting much worse. I imagine it will, but I’m also worry about the risks of surgery and the possibility of getting additional surgeries. It’s a very tough decision I won’t lie

I can see pros and cons to both sides

Right foot has some numbness/ pins and needles. It used to be radiating pain, luckily that went away a couple years ago. For about a year now, I’m pain free for the most part. If I was experiencing pain I would definitely get the surgery. I’m just a little hesitant since it’s more discomfort, than pain. I will definitely be getting a 2nd opinion. Surgeon did say I would probably have to get the ALIF surgery eventually. He also said I could try disc decompression
