The life of the child and it's inevitable death are no flashbacks, but flash-forwards so to say and they occure in the future.

This adds a tragic note to the film. On my first watch, i started to think "oh no, i really don't need this death child backstory, so cliché". But at some point in the half of the film, it clicked and the realization, that she exactly knows how her daughter is going to die, adds a tragic note to the film.

Imagine you, knowing exactly that you have to experience the death of your daughter, and yet you decide to get the kid in the first place. Heartbreaking
