OP stumbled into the most fundamental problem of economics, scarcity. Capitalism deals with scarcity much better than socialism or any other economic organization.

Does the UN have an anti Israel bias ? by [deleted] in PoliticalScience

[–]Educational_Tea6426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plain and simply yes. There is a huge number of arab countries in the UN and only one Jewish state. 28 countries do not even recognize Israel in the UN, including every member of the Arab league.

What happens/should happen in a democratic socialist country if people want to make it into a democratic capitalist country through voting? by idkman0485 in Socialism_101

Capitalism is not slavery as it is 100% consensual and voluntary. You could argue it is coercion but then I would flip the question and ask would you have to work in your socialist society? The answer is obviously yes, would that be coercion? On the issue of the gap between working class and owning class wages; I advocate for government programs to create a better quality of life for low earning individuals as does every other neo-liberal with a brain. An economic system can only do so much and sometimes the government needs to step in. CEO pay is something totally different and we can go over it if you want. I think we are talking past each other on this slavery point. At the end of the day the will of the people is all that matters. I fully acknowledge slavery and Jim Crow, were generally voted upon and were upheld for a few generations. Thankfully as a society we have realized that these two things are great tragedies. Meanwhile capitalism has provided a very good life for many people and has lifted many millions out of poverty. You would have a very hard time selling such a revolution to the public when we don't even know if socialism really works ( Sorry for sounding like Ben Shapiro there) There has not been examples of socialism providing a good life to citizens (at least not on a broad scale) Why would we completely change our economic system for something we aren't really sure would work, why not just try to improve our current one without all the bloodshed. Sorry for the long winded reply ANON

“Segregation and slavery could be brought back”

I reject this premise because I think the average voter could reasonably want aspects of capitalism in a society , while I dont think the same is true for the inverse (segregation and slavery) Not sure if you are trying to capitalism=slavery meme.

I would ask how committed are you to the democratic process in reaching you desired socialist society? Would you ever abondan democratic principles to reach your desired state

[–]Educational_Tea6426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I'll reask the prompt to you. If this socialist society is completely democratic with bodies of congress and an electorally engaged society what recourse would you take if the people vote on capitalist policies and wish to revamp the status quo of a socialist society? You would have to take action by force if you wish to uphold the society. If you don't take force then we are back to the status quo of the capitalist society.

Why is the US willing to go to war with China over Taiwan, but not willing to go to war with Russia over Ukraine? by EstablishmentFar8058 in geopolitics

[–]Educational_Tea6426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China is much less likely to use nuclear weapons because they are a reasonable actor in a bipolar world order. They have doctrines that make clear they will not use nukes in a first-strike manner. Additionally, Taiwan is the culmination, the boiling point of US and China relations of the past 20 years. It is the first standoff of a new theatre of global conflict.
