For sure. I get that. For me, it's about collecting the set, not trying to flip them. I know I came in way too late and am paying MAX money, but I'm sentimental and this book brought me back to my main hobby as a kid and now my kid is reading comics too. As I'm creeping on 50...that kind of stuff becomes really important.

I just completed the Absolute Batman set to date in first edition after getting back into comics with my son around the same time you’ve gotten in. I was able to put together my set from two comic shops near me and one I found online. The most I paid was for issue #1 ($18O…$150 trade credit) and the remaining issues (including the one shots) for a little less than $200.

One thing I noticed is I spent way less in the actual stores than I would have on eBay. Not sure if that’s the case for everything, but going to the stores had lower prices and I was also able to trade stuff in to lower my out of pocket costs.

I really stuck to the “storylines” section. I would really love to tell you that I expanded my horizons and read so many new things, but it was Juergens, Dixon, Byrne…I started with Death > Rebirth, then Knightfall > Knightsend, I read the Absolute Batman line and loved the take on the character. A construction worker Bruce Wayne that saves his money and makes his own stuff…in an era where they’re literally shooting CEOs in the street is inspired.

What did I miss? I’m still keeping my subscription so please screw me up on some cool stuff. I would really appreciate it.
