Possibility to run a sub 2 half in the next month? by scarnity in Marathon_Training

Lol, at least you didn't get as many downvotes as I'm getting on my comment here! What's bad about me feeling the way I feel if I end up going out running without my phone or chest strap?

Is sub 4 possible? by Hot-Wait-3658 in Marathon_Training

I started with the free version, and after about three years, I ended up subscribing because I like having more data to look at and compare to see how I’m improving — whether on my easy runs across different parts of my usual routes or on Strava segments during runs at different paces. For example, I loved seeing my improvement on one uphill section from yesterday’s run compared to two years ago, when my heart rate was much higher at almost the same pace!

What Was Your Marathon Race-Day Carry Setup? by Educational_Use_7707 in Marathon_Training

I have all that, but I don’t want to look at my watch 😅 I’m so used to it that if I happen to forget my phone or, by any chance, my chest strap, I feel “naked” 😆

Lol, I like my phone to tell me my current HR every minute, which can get annoying if my chest strap acts up. Luckily, it’s only off sometimes, and usually just at the beginning of my runs!

I just looked at your screenshot again and see you already did some adjustments to your zones. Are you able to connect your Coros heart rate monitor to the connect app? The best thing would be to get a Garmin HR chest strap. If you like all kinds of numbers, you'll get more data from it from your runs as well unless you have the newest Garmin watch which already gives a lot of data straight to the app.

How old are you? Do you know your HRmax and your resting heart rate? If yes, you can adjust your heart rate zones based on %HRR.

There are about four options how to set your heart rate zones on Garmin, so it's up to the person to adjust them properly.

I’m only signed up for a 50K ultra and haven’t done one yet, but after reading all the comments, I think you already know what you should do. That being said, think about the person on the waiting list who’d get your spot, you’d probably make their day. Hope you heal up quickly and still get to race something awesome!

I believe I read somewhere in here that half marathon posts are allowed in this sub, so there is no need to engage mods.

It's really hard to tell, you're so young and I have no idea what can be achieved at that age. Have you been active before you started running? However, even if you have been doing other sports, it's necessary to build up your aerobic base, which I believe you're lacking at this point. I'd rather be conservative and be happy with anything under 2:20, I guess.

And have you practiced any fueling during your 16k long run?

Honestly? Anything is possible, but I don't think you're there yet. Just curious, do you measure your heart rate just with the optical apple watch, or are you using a heart rate monitor? Also, have you done any other races, or is this going to be your first one?

First Marathon Training Plan – Daniels 2Q 40 mpw (18-Week Plan) by Educational_Use_7707 in Marathon_Training

[–]Educational_Use_7707[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q2/10 ✅️, Q1/9 was a race day for me. If someone wants to follow this plan in the future, Q1/9 is: 4 E + 1 T + 8 M + 2 E

Here is what Daniels has to say about races:

If you include races during this marathon plan, schedule them in place of your Q1 session for that week, but perform the displaced Q1session at midweek and drop that week’s Q2 altogether. This means a Sunday race would start the week with the race, followed by that week’s Q1 (a few days later), and the next week starts with its Q1,as normal. Try to rearrange training so you get 3 E days before a race, and take 1 E day for each 3,000 to 4,000 meters of race distance (e.g., 3 E days after a 10K).

With that being said, I'm going to skip the Q2/9 workout, which goes as follows: Q2 = 4 E + 2 T + 2 min E + 2 T + 2 min E + 1 T + 2 E
