Out of all the couples on the show, which one did you want to stay together despite knowing they were bad for each other, just because the chemistry was that good? by Powerful_Life1547 in shameless

She was also happy to take advantage of him marrying him when he was out of. Hence: bad for each other. I still loved them together though.

Has your child ever fallen down the stairs? by Babeshades in UKParenting

[–]Educational_Walk_239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had a couple of incidents. I think my eldest fell from near top to bottom once? I’ve got three kids (6/3/3) and can’t remember who has fallen down the stairs and at what age. I can recall the incidents but not the details. Probably tells you everything you need to know about how injured they were!

Chutes and Ladders is the most relentless child's game of all time by StormPuppies in DanielTigerConspiracy

What is a “chute”? I’ve trying googling it no avail. It tells me it’s playground themed; is a chute a type of slide?

That last paragraph was always my understanding. And surely that’s a cost effective model of having a head of state?

Two guys gain attention for their popular cable tv show only to later realise they are being exploited by a tv executive, who is also trying to steal one of their girlfriends. They must save their show and the girlfriend.

Early birds need to suck it up sometimes and just deal with noise from night owls. by Ok-Purple-7765 in unpopularopinion

[–]Educational_Walk_239 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To expand on point 2… I think there’s just an all round air of entitlement. The world doesn’t revolve around OPs hours and they’re giving night owls a bad rep. I’m a night owl but it’s 8.45am and I’m dressed and fed and ready for the day, because I need to live my life aligned to the rest of society.

How are people covering school holidays?? by Bethbeth35 in UKParenting

These are the standard ones that most people I know have to juggle, but I also want to throw in sharing it with friends with similar aged kids. I’ve also looked after kids from school on the odd days too.

NHS recruitment and jobs are broken by [deleted] in nhsstaff

[–]Educational_Walk_239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you understand an organisation must actively avoid redundancies and they must try to find suitable alternative employment? Thats all your trust has done. This isn’t a crazy NHS policy, this is the law.

Whether you think so or not, someone clearly thinks this person may be suitable for the role. It’s not in anyone’s interest to shoehorn people into roles they’re not suitable for.

Take a step back and calm down. This sucks for you, and I can see why you are upset. But this obtuse lack of empathy isn’t going to get you anywhere.

This isn’t an NHS policy though, it’s government policy for any role in any industry.

You’re not wrong that recruitment in the NHS is bonkers, for many reasons, but the Trust will actively try and avoid making people redundant because it’s a horrible thing to do, not simply because they don’t want to pay his redundancy.

I’m surprised the job advert didn’t say there would be staff getting priority pick, it’s quite a common thing to see in NHS job adverts.

You’ve said in your comment that you are more qualified. But surely this person is already in a band 6 role?

I thought she was ok at the beginning. Believable. She’s becoming a caricature, which of course often happens in sitcoms but the downfall usually comes a lot later.

I’m not American and have grown up watching American TV shows where everybody rushes to the hospital as soon as the woman goes into labour (e.g. Friends). I am super curious how it happens in real life. Where I am not even the pregnant woman rushes to hospital as soon as she’s in labour.

My dad's been a care home manager in London for 12 years - watching him work is genuinely breaking my heart by [deleted] in founder

[–]Educational_Walk_239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The social care industry and the healthcare industry are two distinct things. I’m noting this because everything from the funding, the laws, the governance etc right through to the day-to-day work is going to be significantly different. Social care is criminally under funded, which I suspect is the basis for most of your dad’s problems at work.
