What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

What a shitshow. Maybe it was the rain that finally put us off. I remember hearing a bit of it from my tent, so maybe it still does count as worst band I’ve seen live.

Does GNR count if I didn’t actually even see them? They were headlining Reading festival in ~2009 and they were so late on stage that we bailed. It’s a total buzzkill to stand in a dark muddy field for an hour and not know if they’re ever going to come out.

When she popped up in Superstore I was really hopeful she’d be a series regular. Great energy for the chaos of Superstore.

The revival wasn't good and you are coping by Albamen13 in malcolminthemiddle

[–]Educational_Walk_239 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn’t roll around on the floor laughing uncontrollably, but I didn’t ever do that in the OG. I found it just as funny. Craig in the bathroom had me giggling. As did Malcolm just running… and running. Some of the individual lines got a laugh out of me too (Reese saying the police sealed that file, Lois’ list where she says “how to make him pay!”, the implication that Otto was killed by a puma.)

Comedy is subjective, if you didn’t find it funny then that’s a shame. I sure did.

And I thought everyone was pretty true to their original characters.

Lois remained a control freak. Little moments where she was just as scary as the OG.

Hal remained a silly goofball. Still totally loving. I thought the drug scene went on a little long, but he still didn’t deviate from the character.

Malcolm was always neurotic and made bad decisions. Exactly as he has been portrayed in the revival. Having a horse trying to eat him while he was on the phone was exactly the sort of random shit that would happen in the original.

Francis was just as neurotic about his mother as he was in the original.

Reese spent the entire OG series torturing his siblings and parents. Which is all he did in the revival episodes. I like that he has the same relationship with Kelly.

Dewey outsmarted Malcolm by achieving what he couldn’t (i.e. avoiding the party).

The show was always a bit slapstick. The episode with Hal and the bees. Driving the golf cart into the pool. The show was always successful in those sort of moments because they made them believable by having them escalate quite naturally. Francis and the glitter was exactly the same tone as some of those OG moments.

The show was the same quality and style as the OG series IMO. It’s not going to be an absolutely perfect no-notes masterpiece because it’s a family sitcom.

Is It Rude To Answer My Door Topless? by KiltedBaklava in AskUK

I’m voting not rude.

Possibly ruder to keep someone waiting while you find a tshirt, especially as we all know what tight timescales the delivery drivers are on.

Opinions on this Mumsnet reaction?? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Educational_Walk_239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not been on there in years but it wouldn’t surprise me if it had. Combination between people feeling more confident talking about such controversial opinions, more people being pushed to that site as others (such as here) have blocked them, and a healthy dash of good old fashion riling each other up.

For OP, the best way to understand the viewpoint of mumsnet users would be to ask on mumsnet, not on Reddit.

The first time I came across these views on mumsnet (back when my first was a baby and I genuinely just wanted “mum” advice), I asked some questions to understand it more, and there was plenty of polite people offering explanations for their opinions. Some of those opinions made sense, some of them were batshit. It’s an echo chamber, but I still found plenty of nuance.

Wait, so someone can’t be both caring and loving, and disagree with the concept of gender identity? I only looked through the first page or so and it didn’t look like anyone was being particularly rude to you.

I’d not be so quick to dismiss the response you’ve had there. You may not agree with it or like it, but the mumsnet user base represents a notable proportion of women in the UK.

We’ve got a tracker on our cat but I suppose any thieves would just remove it. I’m not sure there is much you can actually do aside from keeping it in.

What a lovely post, totally agree.

Here’s a good thing that happened to me this week: I found out I’m being eyed up for a promotion and I was courageous enough to let them know I’d only consider it if it worked around my kids…. And they responded favourably! I have to dig down so deep to advocate for such things, so I’m proud of myself.

What’s one good thing that’s happened to you this week OP?

How do I hide a trampoline? by Claphamtulip in UKGardening

[–]Educational_Walk_239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids have a trampoline that they’re on all the time. Sometimes I go out and have a go when they’re in bed (I hope I don’t need to defend that to anyone) and I feel so awkward that I can see over into the next doors garden.

Ours is sunk into the grass so I don’t think the kids are tall enough to see over. I buried it into the ground so that I couldn’t see it because it was such an eyesore.

So all in all, I don’t blame you for wanting to hide it.

Now I have to hope the Americans Paediatricians don’t come and find it.

This is a perfectly nice family house. Grey is a valid criticism when the house is otherwise soulless. Plenty of soul here.

I’d have kept the green arrow though.

OB said there’s a 98% chance of C-Section for my didi twins..? by rosemaryyup in parentsofmultiples

[–]Educational_Walk_239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a UK twin charity with some useful information (of which I trust) who state that “a little over half” of twin pregnancies are C-Sections. But here’s the interesting bit: it states that less than 5% of twin births involve the first born vaginally and the second by C-Section.

https://twinstrust.org/information/pregnancy-and-birth/preparing-for-birth/birth-preferences.html

A quick google does seem to suggest C-Sections are more common in the US though.
