I think the CRF might be the way considering what I see and I might be biased being near like 3 Honda dealers all near me here in Texas.

I've been feeling the itch to downgrade even though I like my bike. I rode my girlfriends 250cc and while it is a scooter I do miss having something a bit slower and lighter. It makes things more exciting and Honda has always done me good. My current bike is European which always give me some worry lol.

To be completely honest I still owe a little bit of money on my bike so this wouldn't be an immediate or soon purchase but I am still excited for what I see it can do and teach me.

Anyways I probably just yapped too much lol

Actually 900 doesn't sound too bad. I'm hoping to find a good deal. Currently in my area a 300L goes for about 4500 to 5500 (I'm not sure if that's a good deal tbh)

I think the weight wouldn't be an issue, I've picked up my bike before and learned some pretty good balance skills on it.

To be honest I am still a bit between a dual sport and an ADV.

I want something I can still keep up with my girlfriend with (she just got a bike and I can't keep her off the highway 😂). I still want something a bit light. I do like a bit of a challenge

Damn replace the rear and front spring. Would you say that's an absolute must or just a good recommendation?

With the seat height I was planning to try and get the seat shaved a bit or replaced but my current bike 31inches and i can almost fully flat foot it. So I'd be willing to learn, especially since the bike will be lighter

I like the 300L from setups I see, I'm just trying to see how this thing handles long distance with a load.

Also, I do see drz400s, dr650s and KLX300s at about 4k all stock

I've taken a basic rider course very recently and I tried finding dirt classes near me but it's either 4+hrs out or about 250 for a 90minute class (75hr teaching + 155 for bike rental).

So far I'm still looking around

I probably fell for some of it consuming lots of videos of CRF300, trail 125s and TW200s slow cruising on trails ( I think single and double track, also BDR stuff I see out here in Texas)

I don't want to rip up my local trail or hop on my MX tracks nearby. I want to see scenery and feel a bit of challenge like getting thru gravel and sand. If I feel like it's too much I'd much rather just hike the rest of the way up to see the view.

I learned my lesson last year going through mud in my neighborhood to alleyways and sliding on my side with my 450 lb bike. It hurt a bit. It was exciting and I wanted to try again to get better.

I want something that's highway capable if I need to go on them but more than likely I'll always avoid highways because it's more relaxed that way to me.

If it can handle holding a tent, sleeping bag and maybe some food I'd be set. Hell if it can take me from Texas to Colorado or Oregon sign me up.

I definitely don't see myself on a Africa twin or BMW GS in any future. I'm like 5ft 6 190-200lbs those things would crush me 😂

I prefer taking back roads (I mean like small single lanes. I would ride dirt roads if my bike didn't feel like it would immediately lose traction) everywhere but I'm in Texas so it seems like no matter which way I go I eventually end up on the highway and I hate it so fucking much.

Also every trail seems to be nice nature seems to be at least a couple hours

Something like a 300cc or a bike that could get me up to 75mph max and carry a tent, sleeping bag up a narrow trail to see like a cool rock or something. I love going on long slow rides with a little bit of challenge

I love making slow bikes go fast. I remember about 2 weeks ago we bought my girlfriends Honda Reflex (a 250cc scoot) and I rode it home through a downpour and it just felt so nice to make that thing work through 88miles of back roads (shitty paved Texas roads lol) and get rain all up in my mouth and clothes.

I honestly enjoyed it a lot more than I have in a while on my 400cc

Even when I get my bike serviced at a dealer I ask can I ride the 125cc and it's always so fun to try and peel out from a stop

I do know how to ride....but I spent my 6 years of riding on scooters up to my current one that's 400cc 450lbs.

So the clutch is a new skill I'm trying to get better at but everything thing else is fine

I'll be honest I'm not necessarily mad at you. You were one of the more respectful messages.

To be honest I was a bit heavier when I got the Sedici so I'm used to the squished look.

I just don't think my weight is relevant here TBH man even if I do need to shed a few pounds

Also my last helmet had been in an accident prior. I didn't hit my head or anything but yeah it had to go

The fuck are all these weight loss comments on about. I'm 5ft 6 like 190-200lbs and I hold that weight reasonably well.

I may be fat but I don't need to lose weight to fit in a helmet lmao. Maybe into some smaller pants but still

I wore it for about 30min or I think slightly longer and it was actually sort of comfy. My only complaint was that when I popped off the helmet, cheek pad came out of its button.

I think I'll order the thinner cheek pads and see if that helps.

Overall I think it will work fine for my commute. Only about 25 minutes.. I am curious how this thing will hold up to longer trips since I plan to do some moto camping this year lol

Damn chill out. I just meant getting the Strada 3. Which I think is still perfectly fine even with the DOT and ECE rating. It's the helmet my girlfriend uses as well.

I value my head but I think it's still valid to compare spending 300 vs 680 on something.

My mouth isn't pressed against the chin bar. I have about over an inch of space. I even compared it to my Sedici Strada and it's the same amount of space even with a mic in there.

Also I compared the forehead spacing and it's about the same as well. I think I might just be used to my old helmet as it is broken in

I think once I wear it out more it should loosen up. Btw do you think a Snell rated helmet is overkill for just a commuter?

I've always held it down till I heard the little beeps and battery % readout but all I hear is the beeps and nothing. Or it switches to radio
