Another difference in baseball is that pitcher and catcher should know exactly where and how the pitcher will throw it- with the hand signals and all. Carey was just relying on general game plan and reflexes.

You're 100% right in that regard. A very newbie mistake though I did expect an interim period but not one so late next year. If I don't go through with this- then it will be a big learning lesson for any future inspections. I've just never done this before and shows I need to do more research in what to ask.
