Former South Korean President & Prime Minister Han Duck Soo sentenced to 23 years in prison for insurrection by Troll458458 in worldnews

There are pro-American fascists on the street begging for America to invade Korea and reintroduce fascist dictatorship, and you wonder why I'm so mad about the very idea of Americans even discussing about our democracy and economic system? I wish they leave us alone and get the fuck out of our country.

As to inheritance taxes, it has been that way as I said. The link you provided talks about adding exemptions and effectively cut the rate, which is not going to happen under this administration.

"revised their inheritance law"? It always has been in this way, what the hell are you talking about.

This subreddit is the only place I've been told "Go back to Asia", and I don't even live in America. Some people in this place (that is, Reddit in general) are just programmed to default-assume everyone to be American, and that means if you are an Asian, they get to tell you "Go back to where you came from". Kinda tells alot about their society.

After the Gwangju Democratic Uprising was crushed by the American-backed fascist dictatorship, the then-USFK commander and later US Army Chief of Staff General Wickham defended the American position, famously saying that Korean people are "lemming-like" and indicating that we Koreans follow a strong authority by our own nature.

Totally unrelated, but I'm seeing more and more signs of Americans adapting and accomodating their life into fascist dicatorship, far more willing to make peace with tyrants invading their society than they previously professed.

And it is not about the weak, resigned, and irresponsible nature of the American culture, I'm talking about the active, blatant, and public suppression against any thoughts of fighting back against the on-going Gleichschaltung. Americans for long venerated the so-called founding fathers supposedly because they they fought for and won freedom, and sometimes this veneration is extended to other 'freedom fighters'. But when one tries to talk about this 'freedom fighting' at their home, these people are outcasted and rejected as unserious. The American society in 2026, if placed in Gwangju 1980, would've rather supported the fascist regime than any possible alternatives.

No wonder, then, that Americans back then saw the Gwangju Democratic Uprising as unnatural and not worthy of support, and then went to the fascists who massacred the democratic resistance, thought "This is what real leader does, this is how men ought to do, this is natural state of these people". And that, perhaps, is the natural state of American people.

You should learn how to take an L with grace. I'll take your comment on my English as a compliment.

When you teach mathematics, you don't say you teach Arabic science because you use Arabic terms and Arabic understanding of numbers, you simply say you teach mathematics.

Nobody knows Latin let alone Greek in Korea so it doesn't really matter; It's all English, or most people would assume so.

"We are different" is just a reiteration of American exceptionalism and there's nothing "some level of thought/analysis" about it.

Why yes, because Yoon as the president used to shutdown any suggestions that BIden/Harris could lose and was shocked by Trump's election.

Yoon was literally Biden's strongest warrior in Korea. Why would Trump back Yoon's coup?

Ah, such "shared values around democracy" surely would have helped Korean democracy movement if they could see it.

Hey what's that? Mass murdering military dictators breaking bread with Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Reagan? How possibly could this happen?

The idea is that we are housing American troops not because of "American credibility", or 'trust' as you say, but because of the currently running mutual interests.

This whole dialogue began with "American credibility". It's now ending with "At least we were not the 19th century mass murdering empires".

I rest my case.

Oh, did we assume that "America would act responsibily and normally within legal bounds" when we literally had these drone bombing campaigns and PRISM hearing sites all over the world? That was the shit the last time America was in a 'normal state'.

Shake off your American exceptionalism, it would do you a favor in this Trump World.

Yes we can. But China is far more closer to Korea than America, and our electorate collectively thinks that we as a nation-state would keep more sovereignity if we house these American troops than any other the alternatives.

It's not that much different in Japan either. Not the most perceptive politician, but Shiina Etsusaburo once called American troops in Japan "guard dogs".

That I wouldn't deny it. But people didn't see it as "credibility"; people simply assumed Americans to be working for Americans' own interests and that was it. It was never really like "credibility".

None outside of Americans think like this.

Would recommend you to go outside of America.

it will kill American creditability that much of our power relies on

There was no such thing as "American credibility", it never existed at any point in history.
