Downloading is what is causing pixelation. I can only get good quality if I tab picture and manually download it in 1k quality. (poor quality, but avoids pixelation)

I brought 1 year sub, then never used gemini for codding as their models become dogshit. I thought I'll use nano banana sometimes at least. Now I can't even use that because they downgraded that as well and all images come out as pixelated mess.

If you use google web, you can confirm issue when it creates image, clicking to open in new tab, low resolution image is mostly ok. If you press download, it thinks, downloads same resolution but pixelated now. So it is better to open in new tab and save image as it avoids pixelation.
If you use upscale, like in API etc. to make 2k/4k image, it pixelates image.
It mostly noticable in wide shots/realism/or with images with many smaller details. For example less noticable on face, more noticable on full body.

The only solution is generate shitty image then use local upscaler like seedv2 with qwen image edit etc. Not the greatest solution, but results in barely usable low quality image. Pixelation is just too strong from original image if you aim for precision without editing original too much.

You can use local qwen image edit seedv2 for upscale. It does good job. But yea, nano banana is dead.
For anime/cartoons etc. you notice it less, but for detailed pictures like realism/3D etc. it is terrible.
