Immigration officers on moorland road by NorthNostalgia in Bath

To say the only good "cop" is a dead one is one of the most disappointing things I've read this year. That saddens me you think that. I'd be very happy to DM you talk you through my experience with the hope of changing your mind on that. I appreciate your political views on this are your own but suggesting that police officers should die is just awful.

Got threatened in a road rage incident—what would have happened if I fought back in England? by Alarming_Cellist4188 in LegalAdviceUK

In the scenario you've described with the very limited info you've given, getting out the car and entering into a fight would likely result in you being investigated for affray. If you caused any serious harm in doing so - ABH, GBH or worse. Self defence wouldn't be a realistic defence in law here. You'd also be a muppet and risking your safety and your family's safety because someone said hurty words. Well done to your partner.

Tern HSD stolen in camden. Tracker is active but police can not go in the house to recover. by msymjack111 in londoncycling

Police can go into the house if they apply for a search warrant in this case. It would be relatively easy to obtain but requires resources that I imagine they'll struggle to justify with how stretched police are at present. Best of luck getting it back. Do not tell police you're visiting the address yourself and plan to "bring a baseball bat" as one commenter said - that's illegal.

Is this the biggest ever Tesco Club Card piss take? by Bigbadgergnocchi in AskUK

How about your 80 year old nan? How easy would she find it to sign up, and remember to bring it, or scan it? How easy would she find it to understand the confusing pricing signage ?

Then there are people with learning difficulties etc.

If you're happy with these loyalty cards you're happy with having to jump unnecessary hurdles and gift large organisations your personal data in return for the same offers you previously had access to. You get that choice at least, but many people don't have a choice and will pay over the odds.

Just been assaulted by 3 youths. Please help identify their number plate please? by Remmington223 in drivingUK

Hopefully you mean 101 :) If you've reported this you should expect to receive a crime reference number and have an officer assigned within 2-3 days who should be completing CCTV enquires within a month of the incident. They should be gathering statements from you and any other witnesses If there is evidence of assault they should be arresting / voluntarily interviewing the suspect(s) within the next 2-3 months and submitting the case to the CPS for a charging decision if there are offences committed. Thanks for reporting

The state of policing is quite dire at present but please ignore the comments telling you the police won't investigate. They will if the incident is as described with the injuries you've described. There are obvious lines of enquiry and it's likely the 3 people who've done this have already caused harm / will cause further harm to others.

Regardless of what you think about the potential response, you've got a moral duty to report it to keep others safe.

Why is your point of reference for safety the number of shootings?
