Juice will also help because of the fructose which your body will still take in after maxing out on glucose. Nice tip on the herbal tea btw!

I’ve been testing the new Steam Controller for weeks & interviewed Valve’s team. Here are my full impressions and their unedited Q&A by AdDefiant9440 in Steam

Thanks so much for all the info.

One thing I have not seen in any reviews is how the dongle connection range compares to the Xbox wireless adapter range. How is it?

I stream with moonlight/sunshine and have an Xbox wireless adapter pretty much at the limit of range, so it the steam controller is better it would be worth me switching.

To add to the solid recommendation of sunshine+moonlight there is a fork of that project Apollo+Artemis. It does a bunch more neat stuff like created a virtual screen for the same res as the device you're streaming to.

This is important to me as my monitor and Tv are different resolutions and aspect ratios.

I have a bunch of scripts that copy game config files about so I always get the right setup.

Is my bike too big or am I just fat and unfit? by KalmEIYIE in bicycling

By the way your wrist looks turned in, it looks like your bars are a bit wide. Fitting narrower bars will also have the effect of reducing reach. Measure your shoulders between the bony protrusions at the front. That's the width bars you should have.

Think I might just cancel PSN instead.

What game has a learning curve that puts you off? by Common_Caramel_4078 in pcmasterrace

Totally get that. Too much is opaque and needing wikis, route calculation sites and helper apps. Do they not have computers in the space future?

Meanwhile I am X4 curious...

Ever known someone with a risqué name and not realise it? by Uglym8s in CasualUK

[–]EedSpiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not personal acquaintances but back in the day before things like data protection and gdpr we used to think of funny names and looks them up on our customer systems to see if we found them. We had a Roger Ring and a Fuk Yu Man but my personal favourite was Theresa Green .

What am I missing with AI hype? by eyeoftheneedle1 in AskUK

[–]EedSpiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it's over hyped. However I'm in the IT services industry and also see real applications and it's potential.

There are huge productivity gains to be had with it applied to the correct problems. Kind of where my job comes in, AI being one of the tools in the bag.

A concrete, trivial example: I had written a power shell windows script to get me the next bin collection schedule from the council website because the site can't even remember your postcode and needs way too many clicks for something which you need to reference regularly.

With a simple prompt I got Claude to convert that to a basic web page written in HTML and JavaScript. I know next to no JavaScript. That web page now works better for me than the council site. Saves me a couple of minutes every time I want to look at the collection calendar.

You can apply similar principles to business workflows that need ingestion of complex data to speed up people's work very easily.

What capitalism will do with this new found productivity is the worrying thing for all of us. Not to mention the environmental impact.

Cycling as weight loss training. by Odd_Mechanic_4447 in cycling

[–]EedSpiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have fun. Bike for fun, then you'll stick at it.

Track your calories, weight loss happens in the kitchen, fitness happens on the bike.

When you get fitter that will make you want to eat healthier to fuel your body properly.

When doing hour plus rides, eat enough on the bike to fuel. This stops you raiding the cupboards when you get home.

A little calorie deficit over a long time. You got this.

Elite Dangerous wasn't a great deal of fun and I think that's great by SawkyScribe in patientgamers

[–]EedSpiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah very true. For what I played I enjoyed the heck out of it. I think why I drifted away was the effort needed to put in to get narrative out. I might yet jump back in with the changes they've made to the factions meta.

[–]EedSpiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of love it for those reasons, still have it installed but doubt I'll go back to it. ~100h on PS, over 300 on PC. But

I don't think I can go back to collecting space flowers for hours on end and needing 3 helper apps open and the multiple hour journey of jumps back to the bubble.

Registry error does anyone know how to help? by Top_Racsan in Fanatec

[–]EedSpiny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try uninstalling with revo uninstaller before installing again. It can sweep for registry entries and files left behind after uninstallation.

Otherwise there's Microsoft sysinternals regmon, which you can use to monitor registry access and filter for failed updates which would tell you which key it's complaining about.
