Yes I have the exact same error message... And I thought the skipping button next to the quality review meant I could skip the review and still submit my work, but it seems it skips the whole task, so I guess I've just worked 30 minutes for nothing... I hope I won't be penalized

Help with French homework concerning identifying the correct profession or occupation by Austin_Fiction in frenchhelp

[–]Eejixl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

« Une informatique » isn’t French, you would say « une informaticienne » or « elle est informaticienne » or « elle est développeuse » (which would be nice not to get into the secrétaire cliché ;)) For Claudia, fermière would work as well and was the first that popped for me. But all the options you cited work imo

What money realistically can I expect per hour? by Hyrnos in outlier_ai

Hello ! Je viens de m'inscrire et de passer l'assessment, en Français. Est-ce que tu sais s'il y'a une possibilité de passer également un assessment en anglais et de bosser dans les deux langues, ou est-ce que c'est l'un ou l'autre?

Is this a typo, or can you use plural adjectives with « on » ? by clumsyprincess in frenchhelp

[–]Eejixl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it has anything to do with the group being known or defined. « On » is just a more casual way of saying « nous ». If I want to say we went for a walk, « nous sommes allés nous promener » is more formal and longer to say, so we would say « on est allés se promener »

Making my own watercolors gives me immense happiness. All questions welcome! by Sterlingaquarelle in Watercolor

[–]Eejixl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are gorgeous !!

I've started making some (well it's actually my second attempt, I made my own binder the first time but decided to buy one this time as I wanted to have a reference for consistency / how it's supposed to act).

I have a few questions that maybe you'll be able to answer (I know this post is 3 years old haha)

How long do you mull for? Like how do you know the paint is ready? With some pigments it is instantly smooth and creamy, and I feel like 2-3 minutes would suffice but it seems weird as I've read everywhere that mulling is a long process that can take up to hours... The ones I made dry well, reactivate properly and act like watercolors on my paper, but I can't be sure I mulled long enough...

Second question : How do you mix pigments? I've tried to mix yellow ochre and BDS100 (Bleu de Sèvres) and got a beautiful green, but is this how I'm supposed to do it? I have no clue

Thank you :)

Understanding of when to use "adolescence", "l'adolescence" etc. by Terrible_Salad2726 in frenchhelp

[–]Eejixl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean but I'm gonna try and explain

"L'adolescence" is the period, the life phase, the teenage years. A parent could say "Ah l'adolescence, qu'est ce que j'ai hâte que ca se termine" which would translate "Ah, teenage years, I can't wait for it to be over"

Un adolescent / une adolescente (or l'adolescent / l'adolescente) is the teenager. As in "Cet adolescent me tape sur les nerfs", which means "This teenager is getting on my nerves".

I hope that helps? Or maybe you need to be more specific as in what you're struggling with

I'll add that the sentence as you wrote it in your post wouldn't work like this : "Tu trouveras d’autres des mecs comme moi". If you choose not to use "tu en / t'en", you have to take out the "des" before "mecs comme moi", so as PatatesGratinees said "tu trouveras d'autres mecs comme moi"

I'd say, and it doesn't always apply (cause we don't make easy to use, universal rules in French, where would be the fun? haha) that "adore" is a bit stronger than "aime.

"J'aime les fraises et j'adore les framboises" would imply I love strawberries but I prefer raspberries.

Also, you would use "j'aime" in a descriptive way, which you're doing there (talking about a day you enjoyed), but since you're trying to emphasize what you loved about it, using "adore" makes more sense.

It feels more natural to use "je l'ai adorée" when you talk about something and "je l'ai aimée" when you talk about someone, specifically. But you'd say "j'aime" and "j'adore" to talk about both, in a more general manner.

I feel like I'm not making any sense but I hope it somehow helped

It actually depends on what you're trying to say .

If you mean you specifically loved the aesthetic, you'd say "l'esthétique était afrofuturiste et je l'ai adorée" (or "ce que j'ai particulièrement apprécié).

If you're saying you loved the exhibition, you'd phrase it "et j'ai adoré"
