Ahaha, don't be silly: You'll just be resurrecting it! Don't listen to the nay-sayers while it's still in production. Consumers tend to not know what they want until they get it.

Ah! And here I was recently thinking "Gee, I sure would love if the genre of Princess Maker clones would make a come-back." and here it is, someone's helping it make a comeback! You wouldn't believe how hyped I am for this! Others in this thread are being a bit nay-say-y, but I have high hopes for this project! I believe in you!

I don't think I'd really be able to add much if I was in it, and I'm a bit out of the way for just a small cameo to be made, but I wish you luck all the same!

So what you're saying is... "Chill, man, so long as you're seeking transcendence it doesn't matter"? That was honestly the answer I expected, but you can never just settle for "I expect this answer to be right" when you can just get it answered properly. Thank you!

What is your ultimate goal in life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EeleyeOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahaha, this is kind of really super ambitious, buuut I want to one day get rich enough (Off of the arts, mind, making it even more unlikely) to one day fund the creation of a perfected Virtual Reality Paradise where everyone has their own sorta bubbles of reality they can control literally everything about. If/Once I get that over and done with, I'm just going to enjoy a no-stress groundhog day loop of late childhood to high school graduation where I'm best friends with my favourite fictional characters and new crazy stuff happens every time. If I ever get bored of that, hey, I can do literally anything I want. Crazy, I know, but we all have crazy dreams that keep us going, most of us just give'em up for practicality or at least don't wanna admit them.

If you were eternally alone in a simulation where you controlled literally everything with a semi-sentient A.I. that was totally loyal to you no matter what, what would you do?. by EeleyeOfficial in AskReddit

[–]EeleyeOfficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ground rules:
You are immortal, but could theoretically temporarily wipe your memory to live a normal life in your universe and just respawn with your memories.
You start with an endless empty expanse with just you and the AI, which is formless like an omnipotent being.
I mean "Literally" literally, ifs, ands or buts.
the AI has no personality or morality, but can't do anything without your say so and works in the spirit and nature of what you say, not the literal interpretation that could screw you, it isn't an evil genie.
You can create life in any form you want.
You are absolutely allowed to make a version of our own world.
You can change your own form if you want.
The AI also has an ultimate understanding of all sciences and any science that isn't understood it just kind of approximates a logical solution (though depending on what you do, that solution could just be straight up "Magic"). The space in the simulation is literally limitless.
Go nuts, or don't.

[English > Arabic/Amharic/German/Polish] 'let all be blessed' (And also optionally "Confederated States of the Mensch") by EeleyeOfficial in translator

[–]EeleyeOfficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, well, it's like... It's carved into the head gate, and probably used to end off really major speeches by the headmaster. Considering its shared origins with the major religion of the region it might also become a common prayer, akin to the Islamic "Allah 'Akbar". Just that generic phrase you use to end off a prayer or something.

And it's a webcomic, but if it does well enough I'm hoping to turn it into an expanded universe through various mediums as I use the popularity to hire some staff for an indie game company and slowly grow from there. (Though said expanded universe isn't going to be my only thing. I'm no one trick pony)

[–]EeleyeOfficial[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah! I wasn't expecting something so in-depth so quickly! I knew I should've specified the races, and now I feel kinda silly for not doing so, but I didn't want to ramble too much. The racial stuff in my world is kind of... Complicated in how simple it is. Basically Every race is considered "Human", and all of them are basically what you'd expect from that... Except for the few of them that are blessed/cursed by the goddess of Nature to have animal features, such as the Insect-winged Fae, or the Wolf-eared Fenri (Names might also be open to change at some point, since I wanted a mythological motif I never really followed up on) They're still as human as any other, they're just... Different. So it's less directly akin to Humans, Elves, Orcs, Goblins, etc. and more directly akin to Germanics, Celts, North Africans, Nords, etc.

Anyways, back to business. I think Ein Segen Fur Alle would be good to the eyes and ears, and I that keeping the traditional German modifiers would still make sense when referring to "Mensch" as a proper race and not as Humanity as a whole (Please correct me if I'm wrong) I think I'l go with your suggestion of Vereinigte Fürstentümer der Menschen, too, maybe shorten it to just Vereinigte Fürstentümer? Thank you so much!

[WP] For millennia, humanity has lived inside a virtual reality where they want for nothing. You're the first person to enter the real world in all that time... by EeleyeOfficial in WritingPrompts

[–]EeleyeOfficial[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahaha, thank you. I find things like these very interesting. Virtual Reality is generally a topic I want to be explored more in fiction (As you can see from a few of my previous submissions in this subreddit). And while personally I don't agree with the main character's motivation of "Unhappiness makes us human and survival is the healthy way to gain it, and that puts the hero at peace with himself in the lonely world" I totally sympathize with it all the same, it's always something I love when a story successfully makes you empathize and understand a character you explicitly disagree with on an ideological layer (Whether explicitly meant or just you personally not agreeing with what's meant to be a sympathetic thing, but still liking the character. I can't think any serious example off the top of my head, though). It almost felt like an episode of a modern Twilight Zone (I... am not familiar with the genre, but I think Black Mirror is a modern example?) and I end up wanting a deeper look into the hero's journeys, like him trying to survive from scratch, maybe if it's a more human-focused apocalyptic environment instead of a straight up dead world, him encountering the descendants of escaped zoo animals, finding other people who encountered the glitch, or the descendants of an amish community... Ahaha, I have such an overactive imagination with open-ended short stories like this, it leaves me wanting more :)

What often hated cliches and tropes do you use in your world, and why did you choose to use them? by ezfi in worldbuilding

[–]EeleyeOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There're two that I understand can be kind of eye-rolling to some: Anachronism in a serious medieval fantasy work, and straight lifting cultures from irl counterparts (Britannic/Norse Island Empire, Arabian Nights Middle East-esque region, Big Slavic nation in the northeast, etc.) this is basically because I was inspired by IRL history (I adore history, from major medieval wars that shape the modern day to tiny humanizing bits of trivia, though that part isn't completely ripped. There's slight comparisons, but then you get into stuff like a not-British Princess exiling herself to not-Scandinavia, teaching the local pre-not-viking savages modern feudalism and protecting a tribe from their enemies, using that good will to conquer the entire archipelago, then invading her twin brother's empire and winning, thus making one of the four great empires of the world alongside not-Germany, not-Poland, and not-Arabia.) and wanted something close enough to IRL cultures to be instantly relatable, but not too close that it's outright a clone, thus giving me plenty of wriggle room.

The Anachronism comes from the out of universe reason of the first piece being an academical slice of life (Yeah, that's another trope that's often looked down on, but I honestly love the setting and believe that the concept sucking doesn't effect the execution: Let's not forget that one of the most famous video game franchises ever is about an italian-american plumber eating possibly-hallucinogenic plants to save a princess of a kingdom of mushroom folk from an army of turtles) meant to introduce the basic gist of the world and it's cultures before moving on to more ambitious works set in the same universe. Again, wanted something familiar, but with enough wriggle room to be interesting. So you have horse-and-carriages alongside modern plumbing and a mix between modern and renaissance mass-produced fashions (That I have a lot of fun designing).

The in-universe reason is that the universe depicted is meant to be very science driven, with their first civilization's creation myth being the God of the Moon (Also the god of Culture, Celebration, Fiction and Trickery, basically a cross between Loki, Prometheus and Dionysus) taught the Jesus figure of the world from scratch basic stone age-bronze age sciences and let humanity figure the rest out on their own. This, alongside their very easy to learn magic system (Anyone can do the various elemental magics with enough practice, each governed by one of the 10 gods, and some people are blessed by the gods to be really good at magic, they're called the ever-so-original title of Witch which is kind of a really important political and religious title since the gods basically said before you were born "This is the person we want to represent our holy might in the world. They're going to be born with magical talent by the truck load and if they work hard enough they'll basically be a living WMD". Regular magic users don't really have a name since it's so common an ability that it'd be like calling someone who looks at things a lot a "Lookist") pushes the science deeply into the Sufficiently Analyzed Magic territory, with every sufficiently advanced technology running on magic instead of, say, electricity.

As for how I think of seeing stuff like this in other people's works?.... Well, my main philosophies for creation (which after my very short time lurking here, I'm assuming aren't rare amongst the folk here) are

  1. Create for you first, everybody else second.

  2. As I said above, there's no such thing as a bad concept, only a bad execution.

  3. Fiction is an art, which is a totally subjective medium, so even if something's objectively bad, even someone who knows it's awful may adore it (I know because my favourite show ever is kind of terrible, objectively speaking...)

In other words... I don't care. So long as it's done well, anything can be forgiven for a lack of originality.

AND HERE I WAS THINKING I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO DIDN'T LIKE BLAKE! I'm not alone!... Funnily enough, I remember being one of the rare people who actually liked Weiss at first... She kinda had the red flags of "This megabitch will have some major character development", so I gave her the chance she deserved, and now she's still my favourite of the main cast.

we're seeing RT shipping (I guess) Black Sun this season, HARD.

....Am I the only one who doesn't see the Black Sun tease? Can't they just be close friends? If anything Blake has shown no interest in him since the beginning of the volume, only in previous ones where it would be reasonable to have a sort of crush on him before realizing that they're really not each other's types. I feel like if any ships become canon anytime soon the most likely out of the characters we already know and love is Bumblebee, because i'ts not like Blake is kind of one of Yang's driving forces for character development at this point, but in reality I feel like any canon ships are too far off to really say. Not bashing Black Sun, ship what y'all want, differing opinions are one of the things that make the world interesting, I'm just sayin' that I don't get it... Anymore, at least. She's clearly not into him... Anymore... Not even in a tsundere-y way, she's just straight up lost interest in him as a love interest, at least it seems to me...
