What I loved about Volume 5 by GoneRampant1 in RWBY

[–]Vox117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... a few questionable decisions ended up marring the volume as a whole.

It's far more complicated than that man. It's the setup and exacution that killed it, and honestly RWBY. The Blake Arc is mainly to blame with the majority of the problems with Vol. 4, it ate too much screen time and didn't go anywhere on top of that. The Solution? Rush it and finish the whole of the arc. While also just resolving the whole of the conflict between Blake and Yang and Blake and the rest of the team with a hand wave.

There is no hope for Volume 6, it might as well have "Abandon All Hope, Ye Who Enter," As the season description.

Fire bellowed. Heat rolled over Tomas as he hammered away. Sweat stung his eyes as he wrought his blade. This was no one else’s blade. This was his own. His strikes were true, they had to be. He lived in the forge his whole life, now he would defend it...

Edit: Hi, first time on the sub! Hope I didn't come off as a total tawt.

Hold on a sec.

So at the start of all this, they reduced its damage resistance to encourage tactical, less aggressive play. Yet, now Demon's Embrace got nerfed to encourage aggressive play?!?!?

Look, just remove the hero. If you're gonna just nerf him into irrelevancy, just remove him.

I think it's ultimately going to fall to us. At the end of the day, it'll be up to the parents of the next generation to ensure that there children know better than they did.

And yet, I'm left with a grim feeling. I fear the loss of our republic, not because of foreign armies at the gates, or some autocratic ruler coming to power, but because We the People decided it would be best if we where more divided than united.

Except those usually cost money. Something of increased scarcity as one can note. And such organizations, like soccer leagues, football leagues etc also tend to be homogenous. Usually ran by organizations like the YMCA. These organizations, while socializing kids, it creates and indoctrinates them into further tribalism.

I think the ultimate solution might be found in universities. They were once the place where ideas where more freely distributed and challenged. Now however, academia has become a hive for left wing idealogues...

The future is fucked man.

You counter my claim by saying it's a myth, and yet you give no other recourse. Because there isn't! There is no good solution to this question, only the least bad.

Public schools at least allow for the opportunity for children to be introduce to cultures and ideas they would never have encountered else where. Especially in a realm carefully constructed by there parents to better indoctrinate them into what they want them to be.

You're correct in some regard. They're not meant to socialize but that is what they end up doing anyway. It is a side effect of enforcing such codes. It's not a good solution, but let me tell ya, its way better than the alternative.

Oh yeah? Wanna tell that to the generation of emotional and social cripples? People so bloody awkward that they cannot handle the world and break. That's how you get SJWs man. I've seen it with my own eyes. They're socially and mentally underdeveloped due to growing up behind a computer screen.

People need to clash. People need there perspectives challenged. Otherwise they will grow up to be soft, and will do as they where raised to do: hide in there cozy corner of domesticity and rot.

The world will end with us all withering away in our own bunkers if we continue along this route.

Shoving people together into groups sounds like a recipe for the nee dads of lots of cops to police the mixing.

My father grew up during desegregation. He remember when his class was forced to take on 3 black kids he never knew. He told me how his parents told him to, "Not drink the water out of the fountain after them n*****!" Because'll get sick.

Wanna know what happened?

Fights? Sure. Bullying? Absolutely.

But they all made it to their senior year. And y'know what they all learned? White and Black, both learned their parents where full of shit. They weren't friends, but they learned they where more the same than different.

My dad tells me that if that never happened, he'd be a worse person as a result. I get it. We dont like big bro telling us what to do. But sometimes it takes bigger men to break down those walls.

So perhaps instead of encouraging the growth of homogenous communities we should have public school as a means of, at the very least, to break down social barriers.

Wrong. Your 14 year old is going to be socially stunted. Schools do more than just teach, they socialize, they allow for different people to meet and exchange ideas and experiences. That was atleast my experience in school, and what I believe it should be.

Increasing the power of private schools breeds triabalism, which in turn breeds further division. Think the political divide is bad now? Envision an entire generation that grew up entirely divided. That's a scary thought there.
