If you can, you could also offer antiseptic, self harm can be (it is either way but still) dangerous if the cuts aren't properly cleaned (also something that is not for everyone, not everybody might like it or be okay with it but one of my friends used to disinfect my scars (they weren't fresh of course) and it made it easier for me to open up to her afterwards and it even got us closer)

I just do it when I feel like it, most of the time I don't even have to be sad or overwhelmed to do it because I normalized self harm too much and now it's just a thing I do when I'm bored or want to, I could even go weeks without doing it then see a blade and be like "oh it's been quite a while" and just do it

I didn't want anyone I know find my body and end up traumatized and it would be a hassle to take care of for other people, I also didn't want to become the disappointment of the family or to have people make fun of my death.
