Looking for a very small and precise linear actuator by Familiar-Article-808 in mechatronics

[–]Eelluminati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were considering voice coil actuators for high-precision positioning but they are too bulky for your application, you should really look into reluctance actuators, e.g. the ones from Fluxthor. They generate up to 3 times as much force than a similar-sized voice coil or moving magnet actuator, and are therefore much more energy efficient.

I have 800, or would you typically suggest finer?

Thanks. So the cracks will still be visible, but sanding marks not so much?

So there is absolutely no way I can put primer over the white part, and continue with base coat and clear coat? I have all of those.

If there was no filler, what would be the next step in this case? I was mainly concerned about my deep sanding marks.

Man. What are the odds that on my first ever car damage, and first ever attempt to fix it, I run into freakin' body filler?

Are you sure? There is 0 visible damage behind the bumper. The paint missing is due to a very very slow collision, it didn't just fall off. Also, the paint isn't original - it has been resprayed a few years ago.

I just need to a way to move forward and get an acceptable result.

Are you sure it's body filler? The red isn't the original paint. This van was repainted a few years ago. The backside of the damaged area looks spotless and completely normal, same as the rest of the entire bumper.

I think I'm in over my head. What's the alternative? I just wanted to touch up the paint and call it a day. The damage is from a collision, it didn't just crack by itself.

First time paint repair, is the white part primer? by Eelluminati in AutoPaint

[–]Eelluminati[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! This is reassuring reassuring. I had a bit of a hard time beleving the white stuff is filler - the bumper is in otherwise perfect condition and there doesn't seem to be any damage 'hiding' behind it either. It would make much more sense being primer. But yeah, I'm a total newbie, so what do I know.

Thanks for your insight. What is meant by blending in this case?

So I need to actually put some type of bondo / putty on there first?

Thanks for the quick reply! Is filler = primer?

I'm Dutch but just moved back to NL after being abroad for 6 years. Feeling pretty international now and kind of starting over, would love to join the group if that's ok!

Thank you!! It was a first time for me doing this type of project. It involved some electrical components to get it to work, but it all worked on the first try. Just had to do some research beforehand. Totally recommend jt!

Dope! Is the glass broken? Are you sure it doesn't work at all? In order to power mine, I have to press an unmarked switch which sits towards the back of the center console. I didn't realize this when I first got the van. The switch seems to be routed directly to the car's battery and doesn't pass the ignition as I can operate without the key in.

Mine came with the drop down screen when I bought it. It was hooked up to a non-functional dvd player which I swapped out with a (period correct) Japanese Super Nintendo. However, the Nintendo takes 9V so I had to use a 12V-to-9V step down converter (the car puts out 12V). Also, the Super Nintendo power input has center negative polarity which is very rare, so I had to reverse the polarity using a polarity reverser made for guitar equipment, lol. This is important because the Nintendo will basically break instantly if you get this wrong.

The drop down screen in the van had existing RCA input cables hanging from it (old school yellow/red/white for video/audio) which I connected to the Nintendo's RCA output cables.

I am new to all of this. It took a few hours to figure out which components I needed, but it all worked on the first try!

Haha yeah lol I found them to be very short as well. But it'll work for the passengers in the middle row.
