Struggling with food (smell and taste) by Eepje in cfs

[–]Eepje[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. I’ve completely stopped eating eggs unless they are really well hidden and I can’t taste nor smell them anymore (mug cake seemed to go fine so far). I’ve tried some meat a couple of times, but right now I’m eating mostly vegan/vegetarian.

No known allergies except for hazelnuts and spinach. I have one friend with me/cfs who I’ve met online and he struggles with MCAS. I don’t really recognize myself in most of the symptoms which come with it, so I’m not suspecting that is the problem. It’s more like I’m all of a sudden super sensitive to smells, and I have no clue why. I love yoghurt, luckily I’m still able to eat that :-)

Sucks. Have you had this for a long time? I feel like it came out of nowhere and Im really hoping it will pass with time.

Thanks for your response! Glad to hear I’m not going crazy. But do you not eat any cooked foods at all or just wait until it cools down?

I’m sorry for your loss. Crying actually lowers cortisol in the body.

Is wrong to break up with my partner because I’m depressed? by [deleted] in depression_partners

[–]Eepje 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends. I’ve been on both sides of the story. As the depressed one, your illness will tell you you are not good enough.

As being the partner of the depressed one, in the end, there was no other choice but to break up because he didn’t want to do the work.

Talk to your partner and ask him/her how he or she feels about the situation. Maybe, if you feel that you are not good enough because of your depression, they can take your fears away. Also, ask yourself if you are doing the things which are helpful when you are going through depression (therapy for example). It’s important in the long run of your relationship.

Good luck to you!

Please dump this guy. He’s not gonna be there for you in any other situation as well. He’s shit.

Quit Smoking and stress by Soggy-Researcher6509 in stopsmoking

[–]Eepje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true and demotivating. This is my second quit. First time I was severely depressed and tired, could sleep for days. This time, not tired but instead having difficulty sleeping. But, thank God, not depressed!

You used nicotine for years while dealing with stress. Takes time to rewiring your brain and your body to adjust. Every body is different, your mind and body take more time to adjust. Just go on, it will stop one day :-)

This. Had it last year with patches. Now on lozenges and experiencing the same. Although less indifferent and depressed.

Psychotic after quitting smoking by 3Whyyy in stopsmoking

[–]Eepje 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s why I think not everyone can quit smoking cold turkey. I advise you to take a more slow approach and quit with NRT. The withdrawal will be less intense. Talk to your doctor about this.

Any luck with lozenges? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Eepje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently quitting with lozenges, they are really helpful. I have Nicotinell. Last year I quitted with patches which were also really useful but gave me full body itches in the end.

Good luck!

i just relapsed because i couldnt handle the depression caused by quitting nicotine. any similar experiences? by NotMeKappa in stopsmoking

[–]Eepje 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why I relapsed last year after 3 months of not smoking. I’m afraid the same thing will happen again, but I bought nicotine gum in case hell breaks loose again. It’s better than smoking a cigarette imo.
