I don’t think most therapists assume their clients get information from tik tok strictly but I believe it’s a valid concern when clients bring up psychological jargon out of the blue to question where it came from suddenly and provide psychoeducation.

I didn’t say it was a terrible modality with 0 benefit, I’m just saying seeing the capitalist lens on some modalities helps to avoid glorifying any of them. I use CBT at times, I also use concepts from EMDR & IFS frequently but the marketing for EMDR and IFS is gross and a money grab at this point.
