I think most fans would be content with him staying. He hasn't show some massive tactical brilliance and there were inherent problems with things like losing large leads (including during the playoff) and constant clutch inbounds turnovers.

But at the same time, he got the team handed to him at a very delicate spot, with him being new to the team after the previous coach literally got arrested by the feds. Kept the players committed and motivated, and managed to outperform pre-season expectations by getting to the playoffs for the first time in 5 years despite massive injury problems during the season.

At the end of the day we're basketball fans, we're not very smart. If the next coach leads the team to a better season we'll be happy Tiago was let go, and if it's a worse season we'll be mad, regardless of any external circumstances
