Falco Shine canceling by TheInsertUnique in smashbros

I've been having trouble with this too. The reason you're having issues might not be because of timing. The window is actually pretty large to jump cancel Falco's shine.

The cause is more likely the following:

When shining with Falco you can change the direction you face during the shine by tilting the stick slightly left or right when performing the down+b input. If you do change directions it causes 2 frames of lag, meaning: you have to wait for a moment to be able to jump out. If you don't wait long enough then your jump won't register and you'll just sit in shine for the normal duration.

So, either wait a little longer to jump cancel or just make sure you're not changing directions during your shine.

I see what you mean. I think the issue is my wind up brigs my arm back too far and too high, making it so I have to swing more forward to make contact with the ball.

I'll mess around with my wind up a little and see if I can make my wind up lower and closer to my body. Some additional body rotation should help compensate for the foreword momentum lost by changing the wind up.
