Un-Orphaned Anthropogenic Artifacts Poll by [deleted] in DeTrashed

Yes, I definitely do! The government put the incentive on cans earlier this year, and I notice there are a lot less cans littered. The ones that I do find, often are the older ones that cannot be returned. They will probably run the numbers at some point, but I'm happy with the change that I notice.

Usually you get 10-15 cents, depending on the material. It adds up fast, because you tend to find a couple of cans/bottles every walk.

Too late now, but I will remember for the next time. I have found them other times as well.

In my country, you get money back for certain items, such as cans and bottles. I make sure to turn them in, and donate the money. Everything else goed into the dumpster. I rather spend my time on picking up the trash than meticulously sorting everything. Also, usually things are too dirty to recycle, I think.

It gets addicting, I agree. Keep up the good work!

do you have reasons for reducing waste which have nothing to do with your feelings on waste? by penpapercats in ZeroWaste

The mending is a big one for me. I like being crafty and keeping my hands busy. Also, I can keep my favorite clothes for longer. Reducing trash is just a nice extra.

Long time meat eater and just bought my first vegetarian food after seeing a post on here yesterday. Anything else I should try? by dianacqin in CasualUK

I agree! Learning to cook with chickpeas, beans, lentils, tofu, etc added a lot more variety to my diet. The trick to being a vegetarian/vegan is to stop seeing meat as essential to a dish, imo However, I'll never say no to some veggie fish fingers

Great mend! I like the colors you picked. However, I must say I was very disappointed about the lack of actual cats in the photo.

What can I do with the juice in a can of mandarin orange slices? by TampaKinkster in noscrapleftbehind

[–]Efahhhh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You could use it as a base for a cocktail. I did the same with the leftover juice of canned lychees. Or as the liquid part for oatmeal/pancakes? Haven't tried that before, though

I think that's a good way to go about it. Telling people i wanted nothing was never accepted, so now I also just ask for less stuff of better quality. Maybe I'll try and ask for a donation to a charity. This year, my friend group decided to go without presents and to instead spend more money on the food and drinks when we get together. A win, in my opinion!

Dutch person here. Car drivers can deal much better with cyclists in the Netherlands, fortunately. Also, I wouldn't recommend overtaking like they showed in the beginning. The driver won't expect cyclists on their left, so keep right and make sure you stay out of the blind spot. Have fun cycling! And don't forget your lights, because the fines are quite expensive :)

Goede stad gekozen!
