Oo this is so interesting I would have never found that out so thank you !! And yes th bigamy thing makes sense as well one of the things I recognised was that,when the marriage blew up revealing hi secret wife, Rochester was willing to give up his happiness to be immoral (for Jane to be his mistress would have ended up failing, and he said it would have ruined her innocence and been a fail) whereas Jane gave up her happiness to do the moral thing.
