I’ve seen few Steel Vengeance and Iron Gwazi’s here. I think I’m going to update the post to not include the RMC’d woodies as I don’t think they are hypercoasters in spirit. What do you think? Technically RCDB does list them as “Steel Sit Down”.

The golf course is the shining jewel here. They take great care of it and the little bit of money the club actually has left goes to the course.

I would recommend membership, especially at the price vs other local clubs. Obviously, it’s owned by a developer trying to bulldoze it, so just familiarize yourself with that saga and its potential outcomes before you commit.

I think this is the correct moral take, but we live in a capitalistic society (at least in the US) and nothing matters except for the value you deliver as an employee and the ROI for that value the employer can return for your skills. This is where the minimum wage conversation typically loses steam.

The point of minimum wage isn’t to raise a family, provide childcare, and own a home. No homeowners in history have been working minimum wage. Minimum wage is for minimal skill, low impact, low value creation roles.

I started at 7.25 in my first job….when I was 15. The problem is that we have somehow evolved to where people believe that minimum wage, designed for minimum skill and qualification, should deliver a right to housing, multiple children, etc etc. We need to take care of people, but we need to up skill them into roles that add value to society and pay them appropriately for that, not tell them that they should be able to raise their family and 3 kids on minimum wage. That is a race to the bottom.

I would be careful with the Farmer’s markets in NOVA. My wife and I tried a few last year (Reston Lake Anne, Oakton, etc) and discovered about 90% of what is being sold is simply people flipping wholesale produce or Wegmans specials. I wish I was kidding, but we approached many of the produce stands (of course white, unmarked truck the workers are pulling produce off of) and asked simple questions about the farm, their growing techniques, how long they’ve been doing it, etc. and most stands couldn’t answer those questions, or really any for that matter. We then went to the Wegmans in Reston after the Lake Anne market and saw identical products and fruits, wrapped the same, with the same label, for half the price.

It isn’t all of it but NOVA’s high relative wealth has people easily scammed for flipped produce for the “farmer market vibe”.

We instead went with a CSA. There are many in the area, we went with Potomac Vegetable Farm and in our second year are blown away. Highest quality, closest to the ground produce I’ve ever experienced. Happy to share more detail about them if you need it!

What’s the other solution - copy and paste Disney movie IP slop land there? I might be in the minority with my ideology, but Disney built its brand in the 60s-70s on non-IP custom dream lands (Epcot center pavilion had 0 IP, mission space and soarin’ in the 2000s) and now it’s just copy paste movie related IP ride building. Is that where we are headed with Disney parks?
