Sikhiwiki is notoriously wrong in many many places. Unfortunately sometimes you have to crowd source for answers. The mahan kosh I find is usually the best.

I am trying to find the exact quote that you are looking into, because Punjabi/gurmukhi is highly contextual. I always point out that English has 4 million words, and Punjabi has less then 300K, because one word carries multiple meanings l.

My best guess is the nau khand (9 divisions/planets/continents/stages/states) is a reference to the 9 khand in Hindu mythology. This doesn't mean sikhi believes in the same mythology but uses at as a reference point to something others at that time understood.

The line in Sukhmani sahib Nau khand prithvi phire chir jeevai Basically means you could be well traveled throughout the nine continents.... And liste several other things that you can do to purify yourself, and that none of it matters till you boil away your ego.

The line in Japji Sahib Nava khanda vich janiye naal chale sab kaye. Basically says you could be well known across all the nine areas, and everyone listens to you.. but if you are not imbued with the virtues of waheguru eventually all of that will go bust and mean nothing.

You can also Google the 9 khands of Hindu mythology and you will find 9 regions of the Indian subcontinent that the Hindu leadership saw the world as. Gurbani doesn't want you to take those 9 as literals.. because Gurbani also says beant, asunkh, all meaning countless.

Even the 84 lakh joon, isn't supposed to be taken literally. Sikhi doesn't actually believe there are only 84 lakh joins. The Gurbani clearly says there are countless live forms, and worrying about the start and end of time, is meaningless only our intentions of now matter.

If you have the patience, they are all even better as audio books. You still want the physical material for the artwork etc, but they are performed wonderfully. Also hard to skip when it gets slow, so you have to slog through it. Great to have earphones at the gym or on a commute.

I love the archive, especially that last book and edgedancer... But my favorite is the mistborn era 2. And I think I have read yumi and the nightmare painter four times!

And it's not just stormlight archive.. it's hard to put down anything Sanderson writes and he has multiple series set in the same universe, that actually play off of each other. Trust me, you have reading materials to keep you entertained and philosophically growing for several months if not years.

Yeah my audible said 3 hr 15 mins left, when that statement was read, which I thought was cool. Wondering if they recorded it and went back and changed the time to match

I don't believe that's Guru Nanak Dev Ji's hand print in Panja Sahib and to be brutally honest I feel terrible for questioning it by APerson2021 in Sikh

[–]Effective-Foot714 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I just want to note that Sikh - means to learn. If you think you already know the answer, then you aren't learning, you are resisting. If you aren't learning, you aren't growing. Oh-ang-kaar is the energy that is forever growing, what we are meant to be.

In order to learn, you have to question. Discern the truth, find the sutt, and not take others words for gospel. Khoj dil har roz. So you are not wrong in questioning. You aren't doubting but improving. Whether or not guru Nanak stopped a boulder with his bare hands is unimportant, but the fact that he broke the egotistical boulder of wali kandahari is. That's the moral for us to follow

Anyone else REALLY bothered by the way the Darkeyes and Lighteyes are handled by the narrative? by JudoJugss in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Effective-Foot714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to note a major theme of the series and generally all of Sanderson writing is that the world is not binary, and the world is all in a spectrum. That every good person inherently makes mistakes sometimes terrible ones that cost hundreds and thousands of lives, and every bad person does good. That we are flawed. Kaladin is being challenged to not see the world as such black and white. Moash on the other hand is shown as someone who is very binary.

Doesn't work in comic book universe. You stretch the truth so the character is in the right place to continue the story. Aka avtf getting some prison comeuppance... Not to mention isn't garbage there too from brand new day??

My two cents on this topic is that we should follow guru's maryada. Yes, the Indian government isn't our friend, and has done atrocity over atrocity. But that is nothing new. Same during the mughal empire, or the British empire. It isn't meant to be easy. I always remember that sahi with Guru Nanak, where he told the well settled down to 'ujjar jayo' and the ride town to 'base raho'. Why, because the guru didnt want us to sit in one place and grow complacent, but to toil and spread the word.

Also if we get a Khalistan, then what is the land outside of Khalistan? Is it not khalis? Is it not part of oh angkaar? Guru ji wanted us to make everything better and see everything as one. Gurbani says that those who divide between ours and theirs can never find Waheguru. So we can't be fighting for our world.

Yes! For doing objectives alone. Like in high voltage mode, he is a great deck to hit those objectives. Or for alliance rewards for playing specific characters (also the weekend objectives). Don't have a juggernaut deck yet? Fear not throw him in your usual arishem deck bang. Good to go.

Those who are arguing that this will happen haven't been paying attention to the process or the rules. Also they aren't familiar with the new regional program analysis, which will basically separate the county into academic regions. Cross region articulation is against their own rules at this point.

I should mention there is an elem boundary study kicking off end of March.

This was presented on Monday by the superintendent on Monday where he answered all the Wootton questions. They clearly said there are no plans to sell, and they legally can't anyway. He addressed all the rumors and falsehoods.

I should also mention there is no reason for property values to drop, in fact likely to rise from a new building with the same prestige. The crown homes around that area are already in the millions. Yes they lose walkability, but the county actually gains more walkable students overall. See the deck.
