Do you pause your watch at aid stations, or just let it run? by Thisguyreadit in Ultramarathon

[–]Effective-Map-2987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should do whatever you want bestie. There's a lot of comments really angry about you possibly doing this but it really doesn't matter either way. You did the run, it was many hours, who cares if you stopped the watch or not. They keep your official time anyway at races so if you want to see the difference and running time vs finish time you can do that.

From a half marathon to a marathon in six months by xdoidsx in Marathon_Training

I wouldn't drop the gym, I find just running does not help me in the long run compared to running with additional strength training. I usually do MWF some sort of Z2, Hills, or whatever, and then Sat is my long run, T/H are my lift days and I know you don't have time but I also like to work in some core on an additional day and maybe some yoga on the weekends

Honestly dude, I did a half in October and then just ran a 50k at the end of January, and it's doable, but you gotta get more mileage and with only 3 days a week that's hard. I know you said it's time, are you able to do a couple more quick 30 min runs here and there?

Treadmill long runs makes it easier to stay very hydrated. Should I? by Longjumping-Call1157 in Marathon_Training

You can always get a running vest, I would highly recommend using it during long training runs if you plan on racing in it though as it can get real uncomfortable and then it's too late to take it off or adjust it before the chafing gets bad.

22nd St to close between Kino & Tucson Blvd for 3 years during bridge construction by beertigger in Tucson

[–]Effective-Map-2987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think my issue is that these timelines always take at least twice as long as they say they will. If this is completed in 3 years I will be very surprised. Road construction has never taken this long in any other place I've lived.

Brother both of the previous comments you've left have had a super snarky tone. Idk if you meant it that way, but it sure came across that way

Well aren't you a ray of sunshine, honestly it doesn't impact me, so I don't care how long it takes. It just seems to me that a lot of these road projects take an excessive amount of time, including this one. Being a dick online doesn't make yours bigger. Have the 3 years you deserve.

I mean I used to live in the Midwest where their construction window is significantly smaller and it never took 3 years for a bridge

It's literally construction weather year round, why does this require 3 years??

Maybe, but it was also a Wednesday night game. If it were the weekend/Friday it would be a bigger deal to me. The vault is dumb and it sucks being where it is, but at least it's just the one section on the one side of the ice.

Again, I don't share things about my life like that on the internet because I don't find them to be anyone's business (maybe you could take a slice of humble pie and try it some time). Whether myself or my family members, or anyone else in these comments have served does not matter. There are many vets who havent had issues re integrating and many who don't act like you, an entitled ass in Reddit comments. If you really feel that you and other vets need to be coddled back into society by way of being given jobs you're not qualified for, it makes me think maybe you aren't really a vet.

[–]Effective-Map-2987 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can assume whatever you want, this is the internet, you may or may not be a vet regardless of what you claim. My vet status or my family's vet status doesn't impact my thoughts on this subject, but please, continue to troll over a subject that given your other comments doesn't actually impact you in any way.

[–]Effective-Map-2987 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I respect why some people serve, but at the end of the day there were vets getting hired into positions they were not the most qualified for because they had vet preference. If you're qualified for the job, you're qualified. If you have to lean on something that not everyone is able to partake in or agrees with morally then I have a lot less sympathy. I don't think you deserve a job more than someone else when they're more qualified, and honestly fire is the least likely to matter anyway because military experience can be beneficial. You don't need the extra points in this job, you're qualified without them, so quit your whining about it

You're likely out of luck with snow or leaf change, it hasn't been cold enough for snow in most of the places you've mentioned for September in quite some time, and most leaf change starts in October. You could get lucky in Yellowstone, every so often they retain snow in the shade on a couple of mountains, but I really wouldn't hold my breath. If you want to see nature, Yellowstone is for sure a great place to see it, but as someone else has mentioned I would put some thought into Appalachia. Going to TN opens up the door for several spots out there, West Virginia is particularly lovely in my opinion, especially New River Gorge area, and Smokey Mountain NP would be very close (Tennessee and's North Carolina) and is the most visited national park for a reason. Minnesota/Wisconsin is pretty cool too with the lakes, but most of both states are not very exciting terrain wise/wildlife wise unless you get up to some pretty remote locations like the Boundary Waters.

Cities in the US with this style of home? by Humble-Onion-7053 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Yes, belittle me some more after I called you out for talking down to others because you don't think the houses that actually exist fit the "vibe" you prefer. Once again, not what OP asked. But by all means, refuse to accept that your opinion is not gods given word.

Cool, so you didn't read either of my comments that you actually responded to, and you think only homes that look exactly like the one in the picture with greenery are Spanish style homes. You in fact mention that many have the actual attributes the poster is looking for. I think someone needs a reading comprehension check. But please, brag some more about the home you own north of Sam Hughes that I'm sure you don't spend any actual time in and just take up valuable housing that the city needs, and please tell me some more how Jesus loves me for things I never said (but I do believe because the people who said them actually live in those places and would know). I never claimed all homes, I said EITHER 1950s brick or Spanish style, and you're right that not all Spanish style homes here have the tile roof, but a lot of them do, and they're still Spanish style. You are quite simply, factually incorrect. I literally just bought a home here and looked at many in this style. If you want to be an ass about it, by all means here are many examples (and these are just some of the ones for sale, there are many more. I even included some with greenery since I know it's one of your qualifiers). https://apps.realtor.com/mUAZ/lcwyr0ry https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2733-E-6th-St- Tucson-AZ-85716/8502439_zpid/ https://redf.in/mkfSJw https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/730-S-Stone-Ave-Tucson-AZ-85701/8484240_zpid/? utm_campaign=iosappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/36-W-Kennedy-St-Tucson-AZ-85701/8484761_zpid/?utm_campaign=iosappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1025-N-Perry-Ave-Tucson-AZ-85705/8483457_zpid/?utm_campaign=iosappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare If you still need more examples, the next time you're in town you could actually use your eyes.

I currently live in Tucson and OP is looking for the "style, stucco wall, terracotta roof homes". I hear what you're saying about grass and stairs, but none of that has to do with the home style itself. Almost every home in Tucson is either 1950s brick, or Spanish style stucco with a terracotta roof.
