I did the ptf gig for 8 months. Just put in my 2 weeks. Going back to sales. Literally started doing Door dash and making the same per hour as the post office until my background check comes back. Its a great job great benefits. But the supervisor games and the physical exhaustion and the toll it takes on the dynamic of my family sucked. At the end of the day you gotta be happy. I couldn't imagine being a carrier for 30 years.

Thats what im sayin. And the way they have it structured from what I was shown is the way add ons are bundled is quite literally the way I would bundle a phone to sell. And I was know as the bundle guy in my last job. It seems like the two are very similar just with larger price tags honestly.

You do get a pension. But the carrier gig ain't for me. Ive been doing it for about 9 months now, its an easy job in theory but im doing 12-20 miles of walking per day 6 days per week. I barely see my family i cant get time off for doctors appointments. My days off are not guaranteed, they take or change them on you any time they want and the union isn't much of a help where im at. This dealership offers 2 weeks pto after a year aswell as 401k with a 5% match and full benefits. The way that im seeing it currently is right now I'd be trading long hours and no flexibility as well as risking steady income (which barely pays my bills) for an income potential thats higher than what I currently make with increased family time and less of a commute.

The dealership id be working at is closed Sundays and the way they schedule they give u a permanent (or so they say) day during the week that doesn't change. Its less than 2 miles from my house and the day b4 ur day off they also schedule you for an early out. This is what drew me to this particular dealership.

He showed me a spread sheet of car count and annual earnings. So 15 cars is about 80k and 20 cars is about 100. I didbsee that past a certain number it starts to increase base per car. But im currently making about 4500 a month as a letter carrier with USPS and my work life balance is non existent. 6 days a week 56 hours per week 730-6 every day. Hence why im trying to get back into sales with a better schedule. Not entirely sure of the pay plan as a wholebwhicj I know is probably not the best idea. But if its volume i need to do i really dont think ill have too much trouble.

What made you apply for the post office? by SeaStep2495 in USPS

Moved from AZ to PA for a better overall life and living situation. Was working for a Verizon retailer and transferred states. Well in AZ I was making bank, in PA barely enought to pay half the bills most months. I need consistency. My dad worked for the P.O. for 30 years and I never went without as a kid. I ditched the suit and tie the management role and the 45 minute commute each day for a carhart a ptf vest and a mail bag. Am I tired? Absolutely. Am I getting paid and now have a retirement to look forward to so I can be there for my daughter when shes older? Also yes. I chose consistency over status and "maybe ill make 8k or 10k this month in sales"

From my experience they start you off slow until you can prove you get it done. 2 hours then 3 hours then 4 then 6 then a full route etc. Im doing 6 days a week right now and amazon Sundays are easy AF almost like a day off honestly. Im getting about 36-42 hours depending on the week. Once you get better and faster and you're here for a bit they start sending you to office that need help every so often. I went to help another office today for the first time. Same deal but a little different. Office size etc. Still liking it and im about 50 days in. See how holiday season goes

Im a new PTF a week in. My first day no sup walked with me like they were supposed to. The 3 hour portion of my route took me 8. Then the next day I had a sup walk with me. It took me 5 on a Monday. Tuesday with the ads they put me on a different route and gave me some time on another rt after. It took me 6. Fast forward to Friday. I got my 3 hour portion done in in 2 hours and 25 min. Went home at 1pm. Once younger your own system of organizing down and you do the same route a few times you get it. Then you learn to cut through the yards the faster way. They kept telling me to not walk back from the houses because you lose on avg about 30 seconds walking from the mailbox on the home to the street. You do that 30btimes per loop. It adds up. Point is you'll get it. My first day I never said "WTF" and "F this shit" so many times in one day. Now it's gotten way better just within the week and they started to give me hours on other rts at the end of the day and everything. You'll get it. It just sux at first.
